WoW Forever dungeon quests decide whether a dungeon run is worth your evening: World of Warcraft: Forever moved dungeon experience from monsters to quests, so the quests you carry in decide what a run pays. This guide lists every dungeon quest in WoW Forever, dungeon by dungeon in level order from Ragefire Chasm to Shaper’s Terrace: who gives it and where, which faction, from what level, what you need first, and a one-line call on whether it’s worth your time.
The short answer for leveling: the new dungeons pay far more per quest. In the beta client’s quest data, every City of Dalaran quest lists 9,400 XP, about 2.4 times a normal quest of its level, while the four Classic dungeon quests that show a value there pay exactly their Classic XP. The Classic dungeons keep their Classic quests, givers and chains; Forever adds a few new ones to them (Destruction in Deadmines, Past Due in the Scarlet Monastery, a Shaman chain through Razorfen Kraul), and the nine new dungeons bring their own. As of November 5, quests are documented for five of the nine new dungeons; for Krol’dok Stronghold, Alcaz Prison, Blackmaw Hold and Shaper’s Terrace nobody has published any yet, although all nine are open in the live game.
Where the data comes from: Classic quest data (givers, levels, chains, rewards and XP) is Classic’s, since WoW Forever keeps Classic’s quests in the original zones. Coordinates are for WoW Forever’s own maps: we converted Classic spawn positions with Forever’s map data, so they differ from Classic guides where Forever redrew a map (Stormwind, Redridge, Desolace and a few others). New quests come from our dungeon guides, Blizzard’s posts and player-collected data, each dated. XP values are Classic’s for Classic quests and our estimates for the new dungeons unless the beta data lists a value. Blizzard’s November 2 launch notes adjusted “experience values on various quests” and “level settings on some quests” without naming them, so a few numbers may be slightly off.

Dungeon Quest XP in WoW Forever: Why the New Dungeons Pay More
In WoW Forever, dungeon quests are where dungeon XP comes from, and the new dungeons’ quests pay the most. Blizzard’s Kris Zierhut told The Sun that XP from dungeon monsters went “way down” and XP from dungeon quests went up. Blizzard’s October 1 beta notes then gave dungeon quests “50% less extra experience beyond normal quest values”, and the October 8 build raised dungeon mob XP by about 20% and lowered “various dungeon quest rewards” from Rare to Uncommon.
How that plays out in the data we could check:
- New dungeons: the City of Dalaran’s quests list 9,400 XP each in the beta client’s quest data of October 13 (wowforevertalents), against 3,950 for a normal level 33 quest. Our estimates for the other new dungeons use the same ratio.
- Classic dungeons: the four Classic dungeon quests that list XP in the same data pay their exact Classic values: Collecting Memories (Deadmines) 1,350, The Glowing Shard (Wailing Caverns) 2,550, Power Stones (Uldaman) 3,500 and The Last Element (Blackrock Depths) 5,450. Four quests is a small sample and the beta ended on October 23, so treat this as our reading, not a Blizzard statement: as far as the data shows, Classic dungeon quests didn’t get the bonus.
- Rewards: the October 8 rarity cut hit the new dungeons (nine of 13 Excavation Site rewards are green now, and only Heart of Disruption still gives blues in the City of Dalaran). Every one of the 28 blue and epic Classic dungeon quest rewards that Wowhead’s WoW Forever database listed on November 5 still has its Classic quality. Rewards for many quests above level 35 weren’t in that database yet, so the reward names in our tables are Classic’s.
- Level rule: under Classic rules, quest XP drops once you are more than five levels above the quest’s level. We found no report that WoW Forever changed that, so carry quests in early.
What to do with that: plan your dungeon nights around the new dungeons for XP, and run the Classic ones for their blue rewards and for the quests already on your route. Ragefire Chasm Quests (Level 13)
Ragefire Chasm has six quests, all Horde and all from level 9: two from Orgrimmar, two from Thunder Bluff, one from the Undercity and one inside. Together they pay about 6,900 XP at Classic values, and Slaying the Beast and Hidden Enemies are the two to never skip, since both start in Orgrimmar, the city the dungeon sits under. Pick up first: Orgrimmar: Thrall (after his Hidden Enemies lead-in) and Neeru Fireblade in the Cleft of Shadow. Thunder Bluff: both of Rahauro’s quests on Elder Rise. Undead: Varimathras before you take the zeppelin.

Hall of Thanes Quests (Level 13 to 18)
The Hall of Thanes, WoW Forever’s new dungeon under Ironforge, has five quests, and all five together pay about 13,300 XP after the October 1 cut by our estimate: close to a full level at 15. Three start outside (two at the portal, one in Dun Morogh) and two inside. Horde players can enter, and the beta client’s data suggests they can take Important Heirlooms and An Ancient Grudge, but no Horde player has been shown finishing either. Pick up first: Earthseer Farsen’s chain above Gol’Bolar Quarry in Dun Morogh, which ends with Old Ironforge Incursion. Then Thom Filch and Afadra Dunwall on the way down to the portal.

Ruins of Lordaeron Quests (Level 15 to 20)
The Ruins of Lordaeron, the new dungeon above the Undercity, has ten quests: six Horde, four Alliance. Blizzard’s launch notes of November 2 set every one of them to level 15. By our estimate a full run pays about 23,600 XP for the Horde and 22,450 for the Alliance before the later chain steps, a little over a level at 18. All four Alliance quests start inside, so Alliance players only need to reach the door. Our WoW Forever Ruins of Lordaeron guide has the Crest spots and the bosses.
Pick up first: Horde: Morbin Lightbane and Theodore Griffs in the Undercity, Deathguard Kristof south-east of Brill, Tabitha Heartweaver at the Sepulcher. Alliance: nothing to grab outside.

The Deadmines Quests (Level 16)
The Deadmines has seven quests, all Alliance: five Classic quests, the Classic follow-up The Unsent Letter and one new to WoW Forever, Destruction in Deadmines. The Defias Brotherhood is the one that matters: its blue Westfall armor is still blue in WoW Forever (Wowhead’s Forever database, November 5). The Classic quests add up to about 9,200 XP. Pick up first: Stormwind: Wilder Thistlenettle (two quests) and Shoni the Shilent in the Dwarven District. Westfall: finish the Defias Brotherhood chain to Gryan Stoutmantle and pick up Scout Riell’s bandanas at Sentinel Hill.

Wailing Caverns Quests (Level 17)
Wailing Caverns has nine quests: four for both factions from the Barrens, four Horde quests from Thunder Bluff and the Crossroads, and The Glowing Shard from the last boss. Leaders of the Fang is the prize (a blue staff or sword), but it sits at the end of the Crossroads oasis chain. A Horde player who takes everything gets about 12,900 XP at Classic values.
Pick up first: Thunder Bluff: Apothecary Zamah (Spirit Rise) and Nara Wildmane (Elder Rise). The Barrens: Nalpak and Ebru on the hill above the cave, Mebok Mizzyrix and Crane Operator Bigglefuzz in Ratchet.

Shadowfang Keep Quests (Level 18)
Shadowfang Keep has three Horde quests from Silverpine Forest and the Undercity, plus the Warlock quest The Orb of Soran’ruk, which WoW Forever files under this dungeon. Alliance players have no Shadowfang Keep quest documented. Arugal Must Die is the one to take: 3,300 XP and the blue Seal of Sylvanas ring.
Pick up first: The Sepulcher in Silverpine: High Executor Hadrec and Dalar Dawnweaver. Undercity: Keeper Bel’dugur in the Apothecarium.

Blackfathom Deeps Quests (Level 22)
Blackfathom Deeps has 15 quests in WoW Forever’s beta data: Classic’s five Alliance and seven Horde quests (Blackfathom Villainy exists for both), the Paladin quest Seeking the Kor Gem and The Heart of the Void, which drops from Aku’mai for both factions. The Heart of the Void is a Season of Discovery quest that Forever carries over; it pays off-hand pearls. Alliance players gather quests in three cities, so plan the trip.
Pick up first: Alliance: Gerrig Bonegrip (Hall of Explorers, Ironforge), Dawnwatcher Shaedlass and Argent Guard Manados (Craftsmen’s Terrace, Darnassus), Gershala Nightwhisper (Auberdine). Horde: Je’neu Sancrea at Zoram’gar Outpost and Tsunaman at Sun Rock Retreat.

The Stockade Quests (Level 23)
The Stockade has six Alliance quests: three start in Stormwind and two more in Lakeshire and Darkshire, which makes it the easiest Classic dungeon to fill a quest log for. They pay about 14,800 XP at Classic values, with no blue reward. The Stockade Riots needs The Unsent Letter from the Deadmines first.

Razorfen Kraul Quests (Level 24)
Razorfen Kraul has nine quests: Classic’s seven plus two versions of Elemental Aid, a Shaman chain in WoW Forever’s beta data (the quest text addresses a shaman) that goes through Charlga Razorflank. The two blue quests are faction versions of each other: A Vengeful Fate for the Horde, The Crone of the Kraul for the Alliance.

Gnomeregan Quests (Level 25)
Gnomeregan has 21 quests in our list, most of them Alliance quests from Ironforge’s Tinker Town. The Grand Betrayal (Alliance) and Rig Wars (Horde) give the same choice of blue rewards. The Sparklematic 5200 inside turns grime-covered junk into random boxes and counts as several repeatable quests.

Excavation Site: Wetlands Quests (Level 26 to 31)
The Excavation Site: Wetlands, a new WoW Forever dungeon, has 14 quests: nine Alliance, five Horde, all from level 24. By our estimate the Alliance quests pay 43,000 to 49,000 XP after the October 1 cut and the Horde quests 22,000 to 25,000, so the Alliance gets about twice as much from one run. The City of Dalaran has eight dungeon quests, four per faction, and each pays 9,400 XP in the beta client’s quest data: 37,600 XP per faction, about 80% of the level from 30 to 31. That makes it the best XP per quest of any dungeon with documented values. The gate needs the Dalaran Sewer Key, which one player per group needs; the key quests need level 30. Scarlet Monastery Quests (Level 30 and up)
The Scarlet Monastery’s four wings share nine quests in our list: five Horde, two Alliance, the Mage book Rituals of Power and Past Due, a new Alliance quest from an NPC in Dalaran. The two big ones need the full run to the Cathedral: Into the Scarlet Monastery (Horde) and In the Name of the Light (Alliance) pay about 5,000 XP and a blue weapon each, but the Alliance one sits behind a long lead-in that starts in Stormwind.

Razorfen Downs Quests (Level 34)
Razorfen Downs has seven quests, and Extinguishing the Idol is the one to bring a full group for: a 4,250 XP event inside with a blue ring. Bring the End (Horde) and Bring the Light (Alliance) pay a blue sword or necklace for Amnennar the Coldbringer. Icy Veins’ zone overview says the new zone Shen’dralas has quests for Razorfen Downs; none are documented by name as of November 5.

Uldaman Quests (Level 35)
Uldaman has 30 quests in our list, the most of any dungeon below 50, because three long chains run through it: the Alliance Sign of Hope chain, the Shattered Necklace chain (one version per faction, each ending in a blue necklace) and The Platinum Discs. Power Stones and Solution to Doom work for both factions and start in the Badlands. Power Stones lists 3,500 XP in WoW Forever’s beta data, the same as in Classic.

The Drowned City Quests (Level 35 to 40)
The Drowned City, WoW Forever’s new dungeon off the Stranglethorn coast, has twelve quests documented as of November 5: seven Horde quests from the beta client’s quest data (Zockify), plus three Alliance quests and two Booty Bay quests that show up in Wowhead’s WoW Forever database. Quest givers are confirmed for only part of them, and XP values haven’t been published. The Horde quests can all be taken from level 30 and shared; the dungeon steps are quest level 38 to 40. Blizzard’s dungeon overview puts the entrance below the water west of Grom’gol, and Zockify places the portal in the underwater area called Sunken Hollow.
Pick up first: Horde: Kin’weelay at Grom’gol Base Camp for the tablet chain, plus the giver of Enemies in the Water (most likely Grom’gol too) and Mazu’kon for the idol. Alliance: the chain’s text points to the Rebel Camp in northern Stranglethorn and to Loremaster Dibbs in Southshore (givers not confirmed). Both: the Saltseer quests are Booty Bay quests.

Krol’dok Stronghold Quests (Level 40 to 45)
As of November 5, no Krol’dok Stronghold quests are documented by name. Blizzard’s dungeon overview says ogre outrunners in the Riverglades have been kidnapping travelers and tells players to follow their trail to the stronghold, which points to a lead-in from the zone’s own questing. Datamined items hint at more: Zockify and Warcraft Tavern list two Krol’dok Moulding items that look like quest starters, plus a Krol’dok Compound Key and a Krol’dok Ogre Key. Pick up whatever the Riverglades towns (Farholde Keep for the Alliance, Rog’mar for the Horde) offer about the ogres before you go in.
Zul’Farrak Quests (Level 42)
Zul’Farrak has ten quests, almost all for both factions, and most start in Gadgetzan or Steamwheedle Port, a short ride from the entrance. Divino-matic Rod is the best value (6,300 XP and a blue ring or helmet) and Gahz’rilla pays the Carrot on a Stick trinket. The Prophecy of Mosh’aru continues into the Sunken Temple.

Maraudon has eleven quests, and seven of them start in Desolace close to the entrance. Corruption of Earth and Seed is the best (a blue weapon for killing Princess Theradras), and Legends of Maraudon leads to the Scepter of Celebras, the shortcut covered in our WoW Forever Maraudon scepter quest guide. Icy Veins’ zone overview says Shen’dralas, the new zone south of Desolace, has Maraudon quests too; none are documented by name as of November 5.

Temple of Atal’Hakkar Quests (Level 45)
The Temple of Atal’Hakkar (the Sunken Temple) has ten quests in its own list. The God Hakkar and Jammal’an the Prophet pay blue rewards and work for both factions, and the faction entry quests pay the Guardian Talisman. Classic also sends each class here for a level 50 class quest; those are filed under the classes, not the dungeon.

Blackrock Depths Quests (Level 48)
Blackrock Depths has 41 quests in Classic’s list, more than any other dungeon, and WoW Forever’s beta data confirms The Last Element at its Classic 5,450 XP. Most come in long faction chains: Alliance players follow Marshal Windsor and Kharan Mighthammer, Horde players Commander Gor’shak and Thrall, and both chains end with Princess Moira Bronzebeard and a blue reward. Alcaz Prison Quests (Level 48 to 53)
As of November 5, no Alcaz Prison quests are documented, and Zockify’s page (updated November 5) says the same. What is known comes from Blizzard’s dungeon overview: the prison on Alcaz Island off Dustwallow Marsh has opened, the Defias Brotherhood and naga are fighting inside, and its high-ranking prisoners include King Varian Wrynn. Zockify lists five bosses (Overseer Wrex, Tidemistress Ca’zass, Katerina the Cleaner, The Questioner and Blazeroar). Theramore (Alliance) and Brackenwall Village (Horde) are the closest flight paths and the most likely places for quest givers.
Lower and Upper Blackrock Spire Quests (Level 53)
Blackrock Spire has 37 quests across its lower (LBRS) and upper (UBRS) halves, and it carries the two keys that matter most in WoW Forever’s first weeks: the Seal of Ascension for the UBRS door (our WoW Forever UBRS key guide; Blizzard hasn’t said whether Forever’s door still needs it) and the Drakefire Amulet for Onyxia’s Lair, which Blizzard confirmed every raider needs from December 9. Blizzard’s Forever step list puts Warchief Rend Blackhand, the target of For The Horde!, in Lower Blackrock Spire; in Classic he is in UBRS, and Blizzard hasn’t said which is right.

Dire Maul Quests (Level 54)
Dire Maul has 37 quests in our list, but only about a dozen are leveling quests: the Feralas quests from Camp Mojache and Feathermoon, the Shen’dralar quests inside, and the tribute run’s Unfinished Gordok Business. The rest are nine class book quests, Libram turn-ins and level 60 chains. Pusillin in Dire Maul East drops the Crescent Key; whether Forever’s West and North doors still need it, Blizzard hasn’t said (our WoW Forever Dire Maul key guide).

Stratholme Quests (Level 55)
Stratholme has 16 quests, most from Light’s Hope Chapel in the Eastern Plaguelands. The Active Agent (a blue Argent Dawn trinket) and Aurius’ Reckoning (a choice of two blue items) are the two to plan a run around. Givers in the Eastern Plaguelands are named by place, because WoW Forever’s map data and its Eastern Plaguelands map art don’t line up.

Blackmaw Hold Quests (Level 55 to 60)
As of November 5, no Blackmaw Hold quests are documented. Blizzard’s dungeon overview describes a furbolg city behind a long-sealed gate in Azshara, where the Blackmaw clan fights a corruption, with deeper areas leading toward the Barrow Deeps raid. Zockify found quest items for the Blackmaw furbolgs of Ursolan, an area next to the dungeon (a Blackmaw Pouch, Severed Legashi Horns, a Blackmaw Ritual Totem, a Timbermaw War Banner), plus a Head of Varrox Bleakhoof, which points to a quest for the last boss, and Magus Rimtori’s Journal inside, which points to Magus Rimtori, a level 55 NPC in Azshara. Talrendis Point (Alliance) and Valormok (Horde) are the closest flight paths.
Scholomance Quests (Level 57)
Scholomance has twelve quests, almost all for both factions from Caer Darrow and Light’s Hope. The Lich, Ras Frostwhisper ends the longest chain (through Stratholme) with a choice of four blue items, and Kirtonos the Herald gives the Spectral Essence you need to see Caer Darrow’s ghosts. Getting in may need the Skeleton Key; Blizzard hasn’t said, so see our WoW Forever Scholomance key guide.

Shaper’s Terrace Quests (Level 58 to 60)
As of November 5, no Shaper’s Terrace quests are documented. Blizzard’s dungeon overview places the Titan facility in the northern hills of Un’Goro Crater and says power crystals gathered across Un’Goro work its consoles, so bring crystals. Zockify found one related item in the game client, an Explorers’ League Cartographer’s Kit for sketching landmarks of Shaper’s Terrace; whether those landmarks are inside or outdoors is unknown. Marshal’s Refuge is the flight path for both factions.

How many dungeon quests are in WoW Forever?
Our list counts 353 quests across the 28 dungeons, chain steps included: Classic’s dungeon quests, a few new ones Forever added to Classic dungeons, and the quests of the five new dungeons documented as of November 5. Krol’dok Stronghold, Alcaz Prison, Blackmaw Hold and Shaper’s Terrace will add more once players document them.
Do dungeon quests give more XP in WoW Forever?
The new dungeons’ quests do: the City of Dalaran’s pay 9,400 XP each, about 2.4 times a normal quest of their level, after Blizzard halved the bonus on October 1. The Classic dungeon quests that list XP in the beta data pay their Classic values, so the bonus seems to be limited to the new dungeons.
Can you share dungeon quests in WoW Forever?
Many you can’t. Blizzard’s beta notes made dungeon quests that hand out a quest item unshareable (September 24), then quests that start from an item or give one on accepting (October 1). Plan on every player picking up their own copy.
Is there a dungeon quest addon for WoW Forever?

Which dungeon quests are new in WoW Forever?
All quests of the nine new dungeons, plus Destruction in Deadmines (Deadmines), Past Due (Scarlet Monastery), the Alliance version of Elemental Aid (Razorfen Kraul) and a faction-free version of the Paladin quest Seeking the Kor Gem (Blackfathom Deeps). The Heart of the Void (Blackfathom Deeps) comes over from Season of Discovery.
