This TBC Enchanting guide takes you from 1 to 375 on Burning Crusade Classic Anniversary realms by the cheapest route the current game data allows. Skill 1 to 300 is trained at any capital city trainer and runs mostly on bracer enchants and dust. At 275 skill and level 50 you train Master in Outland, then finish with Arcane Dust, Greater Planar Essence and one reputation formula, Enchant Ring – Spellpower.
Every skill-up color, reagent and formula requirement below comes from the current TBC Anniversary game client (build 2.5.6), so the numbers match the realms that moved to Phase 3 (Black Temple) on August 27, 2026, according to Blizzard’s Phase 3 announcement. The full route takes about 410 crafts for 374 skill points.
Updated October 14, 2026: rewritten for TBC Anniversary with a cheaper route, skill-up colors, materials per bracket and corrected trainers and formula vendors. World of Warcraft: Forever’s Enchanting differs from this TBC route, and a separate WoW Forever Enchanting guide is coming.
Quick Answer: Cheapest Way to Level Enchanting 1-375 in TBC
The cheapest way to level Enchanting in TBC is to enchant your own bracers with dust for most of 1 to 300, stay on a yellow recipe whenever it costs less than the next one, and buy only one reputation formula. In order:
- Learn Enchanting at any capital city trainer; on TBC Anniversary they teach every rank up to Artisan (300).
- 1 to 300: bracer enchants on Strange, Soul, Vision and Dream Dust, four rods and four formulas.
- At 275 and level 50: train Master at Honor Hold, Thrallmar or the Stormspire.
- 300 to 360: two rods, then Arcane Dust enchants, Chest – Major Spirit, Superior Wizard Oil and Gloves – Major Strength.
- 360 to 375: Enchant Ring – Spellpower (Keepers of Time Honored) on your own ring.
TBC Enchanting Trainers for Alliance and Horde
On TBC Anniversary realms, every capital city Enchanting trainer teaches Apprentice through Artisan (skill 1 to 300); Master Enchanting (300 to 375) is taught only in Outland. The Classic Era trips to Kitta Firewind, Hgarth or Annora in Uldaman are not needed.
| Rank | Skill | Requires |
|---|---|---|
| Apprentice | 1-75 | Nothing |
| Journeyman | 75-150 | Level 10, skill 50 |
| Expert | 150-225 | Level 20, skill 125 |
| Artisan | 225-300 | Level 35, skill 200 |
| Master | 300-375 | Level 50, skill 275 |
| Faction | Skill 1-300 (capital cities) | Skill 300-375 (Master) |
|---|---|---|
| Alliance | Lucan Cordell (Stormwind), Gimble Thistlefuzz (Ironforge), Taladan (Darnassus), Nahogg (The Exodar) | Johan Barnes, Honor Hold, Hellfire Peninsula (53.7, 66.1) |
| Horde | Godan (Orgrimmar), Lavinia Crowe (Undercity), Teg Dawnstrider (Thunder Bluff), Sedana (Silvermoon City) | Felannia, Thrallmar, Hellfire Peninsula (52.3, 36.1) |
| Both factions | Your faction’s city trainers | Asarnan, The Stormspire, Netherstorm (44.2, 33.7) |
| Scryers only | High Enchanter Bardolan, Seer’s Library, Shattrath City |
Aldor characters have no Master Enchanting trainer in Shattrath, so they train at Honor Hold, Thrallmar or the Stormspire. Blood elves get +10 Enchanting skill from their Arcane Affinity racial.
Enchanting Leveling Route 1-300 With Skill-Up Colors
From 1 to 300, the cheapest TBC Enchanting route uses trainer bracer enchants on dust plus four formulas and four rods. Orange recipes always give a point. For yellow and green ones the count is an average from the community skill-up formula, chance = (grey level – your skill) / (grey level – yellow level). Green starts halfway between yellow and grey.
| Skill | Craft | Count | Materials per craft | Yellow / grey at |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1-2 | Runed Copper Rod | 1 | 1 Copper Rod, 1 Strange Dust, 1 Lesser Magic Essence | 5 / 10 |
| 2-90 | Enchant Bracer – Minor Health (train Journeyman at 50) | about 95 | 1 Strange Dust | 70 / 110 |
| 90-100 | Enchant Bracer – Minor Stamina | 10 | 3 Strange Dust | 100 / 140 |
| 100-101 | Runed Silver Rod | 1 | 1 Silver Rod, 6 Strange Dust, 3 Greater Magic Essence, Runed Copper Rod | 130 / 170 |
| 101-110 | Enchant Bracer – Minor Stamina | about 10 | 3 Strange Dust | 100 / 140 |
| 110-135 | Enchant Cloak – Minor Agility (formula; train Expert at 125) | 25 | 1 Lesser Astral Essence | 135 / 175 |
| 135-155 | Enchant Bracer – Lesser Stamina | 20 | 2 Soul Dust | 155 / 195 |
| 155-156 | Runed Golden Rod | 1 | 1 Golden Rod, 1 Iridescent Pearl, 2 Greater Astral Essence, 2 Soul Dust, Runed Silver Rod | 175 / 215 |
| 156-165 | Enchant Bracer – Lesser Strength (formula) | 9 | 2 Soul Dust | 165 / 205 |
| 165-185 | Enchant Bracer – Spirit | 20 | 1 Lesser Mystic Essence | 185 / 225 |
| 185-200 | Enchant Bracer – Strength (train Artisan at 200) | 15 | 1 Vision Dust | 200 / 240 |
| 200-201 | Runed Truesilver Rod | 1 | 1 Truesilver Rod, 1 Black Pearl, 2 Greater Mystic Essence, 2 Vision Dust, Runed Golden Rod | 220 / 260 |
| 201-225 | Enchant Bracer – Strength | about 37 | 1 Vision Dust | 200 / 240 |
| 225-235 | Enchant Boots – Stamina | 10 | 5 Vision Dust | 235 / 275 |
| 235-245 | Enchant Chest – Superior Health | about 10 | 6 Vision Dust | 240 / 280 |
| 245-285 | Enchant Bracer – Greater Stamina (formula) | about 47 | 5 Dream Dust | 265 / 305 |
| 285-300 | Enchant Cloak – Superior Defense (formula) | 15 | 8 Illusion Dust | 300 / 335 |
Bracer, boot, chest and cloak enchants can go on your own gear again and again. Each rod uses up the previous rod, so keep your current one.
Three steps stay on a yellow recipe on purpose because it costs less than switching. Bracer – Strength from 201 to 225 takes about 37 Vision Dust, against 64 with a switch to Cloak – Greater Defense. Bracer – Greater Stamina from 265 to 285 takes about 136 Dream Dust, against 200 for the usual switch to Shield – Greater Stamina.
TBC Enchanting 300-375 Route
Enchanting 300 to 375 in TBC starts with two rods back to back, runs on Arcane Dust and Greater Planar Essence, and ends on ring enchants, which only work on your own rings. Your skill stops at 300 until you train Master.
| Skill | Craft | Count | Materials per craft | Yellow / grey at |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 300-301 | Runed Arcanite Rod (formula) | 1 | 1 Arcanite Rod, 1 Golden Pearl, 10 Illusion Dust, 4 Greater Eternal Essence, 2 Large Brilliant Shard, Runed Truesilver Rod | 305 / 340 |
| 301-302 | Runed Fel Iron Rod | 1 | 1 Fel Iron Rod, 4 Greater Eternal Essence, 6 Large Brilliant Shard, Runed Arcanite Rod | 310 / 340 |
| 302-310 | Enchant Bracer – Assault | 8 | 6 Arcane Dust | 310 / 340 |
| 310-315 | Enchant Bracer – Brawn | 5 | 6 Arcane Dust | 315 / 345 |
| 315-320 | Enchant Cloak – Major Armor | 5 | 8 Arcane Dust | 320 / 350 |
| 320-340 | Enchant Chest – Major Spirit | about 22 | 2 Greater Planar Essence | 330 / 360 |
| 340-350 | Superior Wizard Oil (formula) | about 13 | 3 Arcane Dust, 1 Nightmare Vine, 1 Imbued Vial | 340 / 360 |
| 350-351 | Runed Adamantite Rod (formula) | 1 | 1 Adamantite Rod, 8 Greater Planar Essence, 8 Large Prismatic Shard, 1 Primal Might, Runed Fel Iron Rod | 360 / 390 |
| 351-360 | Enchant Gloves – Major Strength | about 11 | 12 Arcane Dust, 1 Greater Planar Essence | 350 / 380 |
| 360-375 | Enchant Ring – Spellpower (formula, Keepers of Time Honored) | about 15 | 2 Large Prismatic Shard, 2 Greater Planar Essence | 370 / 400 |
Both ring enchants need the Runed Adamantite Rod as their tool. Superior Wizard Oil is yellow from the start, but at 3 Arcane Dust a craft it stays cheaper than the gloves unless Nightmare Vine is expensive. Enchant Ring – Healing Power (Sha’tar Revered) stays orange until 380, but Ring – Spellpower still succeeds about 90% of the time from 370 to 375, so that formula saves less than one craft.
Enchanting Materials List per Bracket
Leveling Enchanting from 1 to 375 on this route takes about 163 Strange Dust, 60 Soul Dust, 166 Vision Dust, 236 Dream Dust, 130 Illusion Dust, 289 Arcane Dust, 93 Greater Planar Essence and 39 Large Prismatic Shards, plus seven rods and three pearls. Yellow steps vary by a few crafts, so buy about 10% extra for them.

| Bracket | Materials (about) |
|---|---|
| 1-75 (Apprentice) | 74 Strange Dust, 1 Lesser Magic Essence, 1 Copper Rod |
| 75-150 (Journeyman) | 89 Strange Dust, 30 Soul Dust, 25 Lesser Astral Essence, 3 Greater Magic Essence, 1 Silver Rod |
| 150-225 (Expert) | 54 Vision Dust, 30 Soul Dust, 20 Lesser Mystic Essence, 2 Greater Astral Essence, 2 Greater Mystic Essence, 1 Iridescent Pearl, 1 Black Pearl, 1 Golden Rod, 1 Truesilver Rod |
| 225-300 (Artisan) | 236 Dream Dust, 120 Illusion Dust, 112 Vision Dust |
| 300-375 (Master) | 289 Arcane Dust, 93 Greater Planar Essence, 39 Large Prismatic Shard, 13 Nightmare Vine, 13 Imbued Vial, 10 Illusion Dust, 8 Greater Eternal Essence, 8 Large Brilliant Shard, 1 Primal Might, 1 Golden Pearl, 1 Arcanite Rod, 1 Fel Iron Rod, 1 Adamantite Rod |
Silver, Golden, Truesilver, Arcanite, Fel Iron and Adamantite Rods come from Blacksmiths or the Auction House, Primal Might from an Alchemy transmute, and Copper Rods and Imbued Vials from vendors. Lesser and greater essences convert 3 to 1 and back, so buy whichever is cheaper.
Enchanting Formulas You Need to Buy
The cheapest TBC Enchanting route needs eight formulas; the trainer teaches everything else. Vendor formulas on TBC Anniversary are unlimited but bind on pickup, according to Warcraft Tavern’s list of Classic changes, so buy them on the enchanter.
| Formula | Skill | Where to get it |
|---|---|---|
| Enchant Cloak – Minor Agility | 110 | Auction House; WoW-Professions also lists Dalria and Kulwia |
| Enchant Bracer – Lesser Strength | 140 | Dalria, Astranaar, Ashenvale (Alliance); Kulwia, Sun Rock Retreat, Stonetalon Mountains (Horde) |
| Enchant Bracer – Greater Stamina | 245 | Auction House (world drop) |
| Enchant Cloak – Superior Defense | 285 | Lorelae Wintersong, Nighthaven, Moonglade |
| Runed Arcanite Rod | 290 | Lorelae Wintersong, Nighthaven, Moonglade |
| Superior Wizard Oil | 340 | Madame Ruby, Lower City, Shattrath City |
| Runed Adamantite Rod | 350 | Vodesiin, Temple of Telhamat, Hellfire Peninsula (Alliance); Rungor, Stonebreaker Hold, Terokkar Forest (Horde) |
| Enchant Ring – Spellpower | 360 | Alurmi, Caverns of Time (Keepers of Time Honored) |
Keepers of Time Honored is the easiest ring reputation, since the Old Hillsbrad and Black Morass quest chains plus a few dungeon runs cover it. Our Keepers of Time reputation guide has the details.
Cheapest Path: When to Swap a Recipe
The cheapest Enchanting path depends on your realm’s prices at four points. Each swap below has a break-even rule worked out from the material counts.
| Skill | Default | Swap to | Swap when |
|---|---|---|---|
| 245-285 | Bracer – Greater Stamina | Bracer – Greater Strength (trainer) to 265, then Shield – Greater Stamina (vendor formula in Darnassus and Undercity) | The Bracer formula isn’t on the Auction House |
| 320-340 | Chest – Major Spirit (44 Greater Planar Essence) | Cloak – Major Armor to 330, then Shield – Major Stamina (Madame Ruby): about 250 Arcane Dust | 1 Greater Planar Essence costs more than about 6 Arcane Dust |
| 340-350 | Superior Wizard Oil | Gloves – Major Strength: 120 Arcane Dust, 10 Greater Planar Essence | Nightmare Vine is scarce or expensive |
| 360-375 | Ring – Spellpower (31 Large Prismatic Shard, 31 Greater Planar Essence) | Ring – Striking (Consortium Revered): 31 Large Prismatic Shard, 92 Arcane Dust | You have that rep and 1 Greater Planar Essence costs more than 3 Arcane Dust |
| 360-375 | Ring – Spellpower | Gloves – Major Strength: about 40 crafts, 474 Arcane Dust, 40 Greater Planar Essence | You have neither reputation |
Rings beat the gloves path as long as one Large Prismatic Shard costs less than about 15 Arcane Dust. For Ring – Striking, our Consortium rep guide covers the fastest way to Revered.
Does Disenchanting Level Enchanting in TBC?
Disenchanting levels Enchanting in TBC only up to about skill 60: the TBC Anniversary game data lists Disenchant as yellow from 20, green from 40 and grey at 60, which matches Icy Veins. After that, what matters is which items you can disenchant, per Warcraft Wiki:
| Enchanting skill | What you can disenchant |
|---|---|
| 1 | Items up to item level 20 |
| 25 to 200 | Each 25 points add 5 item levels, up to item level 60 |
| 225 | Greens up to item level 99, blues up to 97, epics up to 95 (Outland quest greens up to about level 63) |
| 275 | Greens up to item level 120, blues up to 115 (level 64 to 70 greens, dungeon blues) |
| 300 | Epics from item level 100 to 164 (Karazhan, raid and badge gear) |
