World of Warcraft: Forever launches on November 4, and unlike Tailoring and Leatherworking, Enchanting kept its skill ranges: 151 of its 153 original recipes turn yellow and grey at exactly the same skill as in Classic. What changed is the bill. Forever cut the dust and essences for 95 of those recipes, 44 of them by half or more, and added a vendor-bought Mote of Magic for the first 25 points. This WoW Forever enchanting leveling guide is the cheapest 1-300 route we could build from the beta client’s data. It reaches 225 with about 180 Strange Dust, 80 Soul Dust and 25 Vision Dust, using trainer recipes only.
How solid this is: every threshold and reagent comes from the beta client’s game data (build 1.60.1.70374, October 13), which matches SeeMeta’s Forever Enchanting table for all 211 recipes both list. WoW-Professions’ beta-tested route confirms the learn levels for all but one of our steps to 225. Skill 225 to 300 is untested everywhere, because Artisan needs character level 35 and the beta stops at 30. Craft counts are our estimates from Classic’s skill-up formula; disenchanting odds are Classic data.
Quick Answer: Enchanting 1-300 in WoW Forever
- Route to 225: Enchant Bracer – Inferior Stamina to 25 with vendor Motes of Magic, Chest – Inferior Stamina to 70, Bracer – Minor Stamina to 100, Cloak – Minor Protection to 130, Bracer – Lesser Stamina to 165, Boots – Lesser Agility to 200, Bracer – Strength to 205, Cloak – Greater Defense to 225, plus four runed rods.
- Materials to 225: 31 Motes of Magic, 180 Strange Dust, 79 Soul Dust, 25 Vision Dust, six essences and three Blacksmithing rods. That’s about 120 green armor pieces to disenchant (our estimate).
- 225 to 300 (untested): Gloves – Agility to 250, Bracer – Greater Strength to 265, then 246 Dream Dust if Forever sells the formula for Shield – Greater Stamina, or 59 Large Radiant Shards and 59 Wildvine with trainer recipes only.
- Cost, our estimate: under 1 gold of vendor items and rank training to 225, plus recipe fees (not in the client). Artisan and Annora’s recipes add about 6 gold.
- Gates: Journeyman at skill 50 and level 10 in every capital, Expert at 125 and level 20 only from Kitta Firewind (Elwynn Forest) or Hgarth (Stonetalon Mountains), Artisan at 200 and level 35 only from Annora inside Uldaman.
Did Enchanting Keep Its Classic Skill Ranges in WoW Forever?
Yes. Of the 153 Enchanting recipes in both the Forever beta client and the Classic Era client (build 1.15.9, Season of Discovery recipes left out), 151 turn yellow and grey at the same skill. The grey shift that moves Tailoring and Leatherworking recipes 20 to 45 points earlier doesn’t apply, as WoW-Professions said. Both exceptions are at the start:
| Recipe | Classic (yellow / grey) | Forever (yellow / grey) | Reagent change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Enchant Bracer – Inferior Stamina (Classic: Minor Health) | 70 / 110 | 20 / 25 | Mote of Magic instead of Strange Dust |
| Minor Wizard Oil | 55 / 75 | 30 / 65 | 1 Strange Dust instead of 2 |
The health and mana enchants were renamed: Minor Health is now Inferior Stamina, Lesser Mana is Lesser Intellect, and so on up to Major Stamina and Major Intellect. The real change is cost. 95 of the 153 recipes need fewer materials or a cheaper essence in Forever, and none needs more:
| Recipe | Classic reagents | Forever reagents |
|---|---|---|
| Enchant Bracer – Minor Stamina | 3 Strange Dust | 2 Strange Dust |
| Enchant Cloak – Minor Protection | 3 Strange Dust, Greater Magic Essence | 2 Strange Dust |
| Enchant Boots – Minor Stamina | 8 Strange Dust | 4 Strange Dust |
| Enchant Bracer – Lesser Stamina | 2 Soul Dust | 1 Soul Dust |
| Enchant Boots – Lesser Agility | Soul Dust, Lesser Mystic Essence | 1 Soul Dust |
| Enchant Cloak – Greater Defense | 3 Vision Dust | 1 Vision Dust |
| Enchant Chest – Superior Stamina | 6 Vision Dust | 3 Vision Dust |
| Enchant Shield – Greater Stamina | 10 Dream Dust | 6 Dream Dust |
We ran a standard Classic route through Classic’s thresholds and reagents with the same formula: it needs about 910 disenchanted materials from 1 to 300, our Forever route about 600. The biggest saving is Vision Dust, from about 87 to 26 on the way to 225.
WoW Forever Enchanting Trainers and Rank Requirements
Every capital has Apprentice and Journeyman enchanting trainers in WoW Forever, but Expert is only taught by Kitta Firewind at the top of the Tower of Azora in Elwynn Forest and Hgarth on the hill at Sun Rock Retreat in Stonetalon, and Artisan only by Annora inside Uldaman, for both factions. Locations are from Zockify’s beta trainer data, rank gates from Icy Veins’ beta table.
| Rank | Skill cap | Requirement | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Apprentice | 75 | Character level 5 (Zockify, Icy Veins; WoW-Professions saw no level check in the beta) | 10 copper |
| Journeyman | 150 | Skill 50, level 10 | 5 silver |
| Expert | 225 | Skill 125, level 20 | 50 silver (WoW-Professions) |
| Artisan | 300 | Skill 200, level 35 | 5 gold (WoW-Professions) |
The Apprentice and Journeyman costs are wow.gg’s Forever values for Alchemy; we expect Enchanting to match. Reaching 150, 225 and 300 each earns one account-wide point for the WoW Forever Legacy System, whose Working Overtime perk raises skill-up chances.

| # | Where | Trainers (rank, coordinates) | Faction |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Stormwind, Mage Quarter | Betty Quin (Apprentice, 53.0, 73.7), Lucan Cordell (Journeyman, 52.9, 74.5) | Alliance |
| 2 | Ironforge, the Great Forge | Thonys Pillarstone (Apprentice, 60.3, 45.4), Gimble Thistlefuzz (Journeyman, 59.8, 45.5) | Alliance |
| 3 | Undercity | Malcomb Wynn (Apprentice, 62.5, 60.4), Lavinia Crowe (Journeyman, 62.5, 61.8) | Horde |
| 4 | Tower of Azora, Elwynn Forest | Kitta Firewind (Expert, 64.9, 70.7) | Alliance |
| 5 | Uldaman, Badlands | Annora (Artisan), inside the dungeon; entrance about 41, 11 | Both |
| 6 | Darnassus, Craftsmen’s Terrace | Lalina Summermoon (Apprentice, 58.8, 12.7), Taladan (Journeyman, 58.4, 13.1) | Alliance |
| 7 | Sun Rock Retreat, Stonetalon | Hgarth (Expert, 49.2, 57.2) | Horde |
| 8 | Orgrimmar, the Drag | Jhag (Apprentice, 53.5, 38.6), Godan (Journeyman, 53.9, 38.7) | Horde |
| 9 | Thunder Bluff | Mot Dawnstrider (Apprentice, 44.6, 38.5), Teg Dawnstrider (Journeyman, 44.9, 37.5) | Horde |
| Dots | Apprentice only | Alliance: Alanna Raveneye, Teldrassil (36.7, 34.2); Vanessa Sellers, Dalaran (16.7, 62.4). Horde: Pa’zula, Sen’jin Village (56.5, 73.6); Vance Undergloom, Brill (61.8, 51.6) | Both |
Annora only appears once you clear the room she stands in (Zockify, WoW-Professions), so bring a group to Uldaman at 35. Per WoW-Professions she alone teaches the recipes from 230 to 250, at 54 to 65 silver each: learn all you need in one visit. Motes of Magic and Copper Rods are sold by the Enchanting Supply vendor next to the capital trainers, per WoW-Professions.
WoW Forever Enchanting Leveling Route 1-225
The cheapest way to level Enchanting from 1 to 225 in WoW Forever is a chain of trainer enchants on your own gear that uses one dust tier at a time: Strange Dust to 130, Soul Dust to 200 and Vision Dust to 225. Until a recipe turns yellow, every craft is a point; at grey, none.
| Skill | Recipe (yellow / grey) | Crafts | Materials | Recipe from |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1-2 | Runed Copper Rod (5 / 10) | 1 | Copper Rod, Mote of Magic | Known with Enchanting |
| 2-25 | Enchant Bracer – Inferior Stamina (20 / 25) | 29 | 29 Motes of Magic (about 3 silver) | Known with Enchanting |
| 25-70 | Enchant Chest – Inferior Stamina (70 / 110) | 45 | 45 Strange Dust | Trainer, learned by 20 in the beta |
| 70-100 | Enchant Bracer – Minor Stamina (100 / 140) | 30 | 60 Strange Dust | Trainer, learned by 70 in the beta |
| 100-130 | Enchant Cloak – Minor Protection (110 / 150), Runed Silver Rod at 110 | 36 + 1 | 72 Strange Dust; rod: Silver Rod, 3 Strange Dust, 4 Lesser Magic Essence, Shadowgem | Trainer, learned by 100 in the beta; rod by 109 |
| 130-165 | Enchant Bracer – Lesser Stamina (155 / 195), Runed Golden Rod at 150 | 35 + 1 | 35 Soul Dust; rod: Golden Rod, Iridescent Pearl, Greater Astral Essence, Soul Dust | Trainer, learned by 130 in the beta; rod at 150 |
| 165-200 | Enchant Boots – Lesser Agility (180 / 220) | 42 | 42 Soul Dust | Trainer, learned by 165 in the beta |
| 200-205 | Runed Truesilver Rod (220 / 260), then Enchant Bracer – Strength (200 / 240) | 1 + 4 | Truesilver Rod, Black Pearl, Greater Mystic Essence, 5 Vision Dust | Trainer, learned by 200 in the beta; bracer by 185 |
| 205-225 | Enchant Cloak – Greater Defense (225 / 265) | 20 | 20 Vision Dust | Trainer, about 205 (Classic learn level); tested by 220 |
Five notes on the route:
- Craft each rod when the route says: in the beta client every tier of enchants needs the next runed rod. Blacksmiths make the Silver, Golden and Truesilver Rods.
- Make an Enchanted Lute at 20 if your trainer teaches it: it’s yellow from 20 to 25 and replaces one mote craft.
- More essences than dust? Use Enchant Bracer – Minor Deflect (known from the start, orange until 80) or Lesser Magic Wands from 25 to 75, then Chest – Minor Absorption to 100: about 76 Lesser Magic Essence instead of 105 Strange Dust.
- Leveling Tailoring too? Use Bracer – Strength from 180 to 200 (20 Vision Dust) instead of the yellow Lesser Agility boots (27 Soul Dust).
- No Cloak – Greater Defense at 205? Stay on Bracer – Strength until 220, for about 7 more Vision Dust.
WoW-Professions’ beta-tested route matches ours to 130, then uses Boots – Minor Stamina and two oils that need vendor formulas, seeds and vials. Through the same formula it takes about 266 Strange Dust, 36 Soul Dust and 43 Vision Dust to 225. Ours needs 85 fewer Strange Dust and 18 fewer Vision Dust for 43 more Soul Dust.
Enchanting 225-300: The Untested Part
Enchanting 225 to 300 in WoW Forever can’t be tested before launch, because Artisan needs character level 35; the route below is our plan on paper. The catch: from 265 the cheap recipes are formulas, and Zockify lists the source of almost every Enchanting formula above 225 as not known yet.
| Skill | Recipe (yellow / grey) | Crafts | Materials | Recipe from |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 225-250 | Enchant Gloves – Agility (230 / 270) | 32 | 32 Vision Dust | Expert trainer, about 210 (Classic) |
| 250-265 | Enchant Bracer – Greater Strength (260 / 300) | 15 | 15 Dream Dust, 31 Lesser Nether Essence | Annora, 240 |
| 265-300, option A | Enchant Shield – Greater Stamina (285 / 325) | 39 | 231 Dream Dust | Formula, skill 265, bind on pickup; Forever source unknown |
| 265-300, option B | Enchant Gloves – Minor Haste (270 / 310) | 59 | 59 Large Radiant Shards, 59 Wildvine | Annora, 250 |
WoW-Professions’ draft points to Daniel Bartlett in Undercity and Mythrin’dir in Darnassus, who sold the option A formula in Classic; if they do at launch, take it. Option B needs only trainer recipes but costs shards and Wildvine, which in Classic drops from trolls. Gloves – Agility saves the most: WoW-Professions’ draft spends about 75 Vision Dust on 225 to 250, ours 32. The new necklace enchants are orange from 210 to 225, but at up to 8 Large Radiant Shards each they’re not a leveling recipe.

Where Enchanting Materials Come From: Disenchanting in WoW Forever
Disenchanting in WoW Forever uses the same item level brackets as Classic in the beta client’s data. Drop rates are server data, so the table is Classic’s (WoW-Professions’ Forever guide shows the same): green armor gives dust 75% of the time, green weapons give essences 75% of the time, and about 5% give a shard.
| Item level (required level) | Dust | Essence | Shard |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5-15 (about 1-10) | 1-2 Strange Dust | 1-2 Lesser Magic | None |
| 16-25 (11-20) | 2-3, then 4-6 Strange Dust | Greater Magic, then Lesser Astral | Small Glimmering |
| 26-35 (21-30) | 1-2, then 2-5 Soul Dust | Greater Astral, then Lesser Mystic | Large Glimmering, Small Glowing |
| 36-45 (31-40) | 1-2, then 2-5 Vision Dust | Greater Mystic, then Lesser Nether | Large Glowing, Small Radiant |
| 46-55 (41-50) | 1-2, then 2-5 Dream Dust | Greater Nether, then Lesser Eternal | Large Radiant, Small Brilliant |
| 56-65 (51-60) | 1-2, then 2-5 Illusion Dust | Greater Eternal | Large Brilliant |
Each row covers two Classic brackets; the second amount is for the upper one. New in the beta client: disenchanting brackets for rare items from item level 5 (Classic’s start at 20), fitting Forever’s low-level blue crafts, and essences that stack to 20 instead of 10. WoW-Professions reports that any Enchanting skill can disenchant anything in Forever.

Three ways to get the materials, which most enchanters mix:
- Disenchant your own greens. Our route to 225 takes about 120 green armor pieces: 64 of item level 16 to 25, 42 of 26 to 35 and 13 of 36 to 45 (our estimate from Classic’s odds). Option A to 300 adds about 150.
- Pair Enchanting with Tailoring. The route in our WoW Forever tailoring leveling guide crafts 99 green items. Disenchanted at Classic odds, they give about 54 Strange Dust, 19 Soul Dust, 93 Vision Dust and 7 Dream Dust: all the Vision Dust you need to 250, but under a third of the Strange Dust and a quarter of the Soul Dust.
- Buy the rest. Launch-week prices are unknown; Strange Dust is what you need most of.
Selling Wands While Leveling: The October Price Changes
Blizzard’s October 1 beta notes set crafted common and uncommon wands to sell to vendors for 1 copper; the October 8 notes gave them small prices again and cut Minor Wizard Oil to 1 silver. In Classic, enchanters vendored wands to get gold back while leveling. In Forever that only pays for the cheapest wand:
| Wand | Level | Materials (beta client) | Sells for in Classic | Sells for since October 8 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Novice’s Practice Wand (new) | 1 | Simple Wood, Mote of Magic | 5 copper | |
| Lesser Magic Wand | 5 | Simple Wood, Lesser Magic Essence | 5s 8c | 1s 10c |
| Greater Magic Wand | 13 | Simple Wood, 2 Lesser Magic Essence | 15s 35c | 2s |
| Lesser Mystic Wand | 26 | Star Wood, Lesser Mystic Essence | 35s 81c | 4s 50c |
| Greater Mystic Wand | 30 | Star Wood, Lesser Mystic Essence, Vision Dust | 52s 63c | 6s |
| Twisted Nether, Dreambough, Lesser and Greater Eternal Wand (new) | 37 to 55 | Star Wood, Nether or Eternal essences, dust | 10s, 15s, 20s, 25s |
Star Wood costs 45 silver at the vendor (client price), so every Star Wood wand sells for less than its wood: sell those on the auction house or keep them. Lesser Magic Wand is the exception: Simple Wood costs 38 copper and the wand sells for 1 silver 10, a small profit per point from 25 to 75 if you level on Lesser Magic Essence (Classic learn level 10, untested in Forever). Minor Wizard Oil now sells for less than its vendor reagents. Our reading: Forever’s cheaper reagents would have made vendoring a gold source, and the October 8 prices keep it small. The new wands for levels 37 to 55 have no known formula source.
Necklace and Off-Hand Enchants, Staves and Class Relics
WoW Forever’s new Enchanting recipes are gear rather than skill-ups, and Zockify lists 39 of them for Merchant’s Favor. You earn Favor from Waylaid Crates and spend it at the Azeroth Commerce Authority camp at Three Corners in Redridge (10.5, 72.7) or the Durotar Supply and Logistics camp west of the Crossroads (49.7, 29.5).
| Favor | Skill | Formulas (Zockify) |
|---|---|---|
| 45 | 130-140 | Level 20 relics (Mystic Mushroom idol, Tenets of the Silver Hand libram, Polished Driftwood Icon totem), level 25 Glimmering Staff and Soulstaff, Orb of Mystic Insight and Orb of Souls, weapon enchants Insight, Recovery and Revelation |
| 120 | 210-220 | Five necklace enchants, level 40 relics (Talons of Wrath, Libram of Invocation, Totem of Ancestral Protection), level 45 Radiant Staff and Dreamstaff, Truesilver Conduit, Twisting Essence Jar, Enchant Chest – Absorption |
| 180 | 275 | Brilliant Wand (rare, level 55) |
| 240 | 300 | Idol of the Dream, Libram of Holy Alacrity, Totem of Thunder, Enchant Off-Hand – Wisdom and 11 more skill 300 enchants |
- Necklace enchants (beta client): +5 Strength, +5 Agility, +6 spell power, +11 healing and +4 spell damage, or +5 defense. Each needs shards, essences and Dream Dust plus alchemist dyes or Scarce materials.
- Off-hand enchants: Superior Intellect (+9 Intellect) and Excellent Spirit (+12 Spirit) have no known source; Wisdom (+6 Intellect, +5 Spirit) costs 240 Favor, per Zockify.
- Staves: four rare, bind-on-pickup staves for levels 25 and 45. Zockify calls them metal staves; the reagents are Star Wood, shards and essences, plus the Scarce ore Pyrite for the Glimmering Staff.
- Class relics for Druids, Paladins and Shamans at levels 20, 40 and 55 to 60. Five epic level 60 relics and the epic wand Torch of Light bind on equip, so you can sell them; they need the Arcane Forge and their formula source is unknown.
- Enchant Gloves – Lotus Claw (skill 295, source unknown) gives a small chance to find Death Lotus when you gather any herb in Mount Hyjal, per its tooltip. It costs a Death Lotus, 2 Small Brilliant Shards, 12 Illusion Dust and 4 Lesser Eternal Essence.
- Quest formulas: Enchant Bracer – Lesser Agility (+4) and Lesser Healing Power come from the quest Mysterious Mysticism, per Zockify.
Three things Enchanting doesn’t get. None of the 150 Craftsman’s Writs in the beta client’s item data asks for an Enchanting item. There are no enchanting vellums: the client has only a placeholder vellum item. And Tailoring, not Enchanting, makes the bigger enchanting bags: Enchanted Mageweave Pouch 20 slots (Classic 16), Enchanted Runecloth Bag 26 (20) and Big Bag of Enchantment 32 (24). At 300, 1,000 Favor buys the Enchanting Certification and the account-wide “the Enchanter” title.
Enchanted Lute, Arcane Salvager and Arcane Forge
Enchanting’s camp objects give a one-hour Mark of the Wild-like buff to players at your campfire. It scales with each player’s level, per the Enchanted Lute’s tooltip, and doesn’t stack with Mark of the Wild:
| Character level | Armor | All stats | All resistances |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1-9 | 28 | ||
| 10-19 | 71 | 2 | |
| 20-29 | 114 | 4 | |
| 30-39 | 163 | 7 | 6 |
| 40-49 | 211 | 9 | 12 |
| 50-59 | 260 | 12 | 16 |
| 60 | 308 | 13 | 22 |
At 60 that’s about 80% of Forever’s Mark of the Wild rank 7, which has 385 armor, 16 stats and 27 resistances in the same client data.
- Enchanted Lute (tier 1, skill 20; Simple Wood, Strange Dust). Its source isn’t confirmed; Blizzard’s systems panel recap says the first camp objects come from trainers or camping NPCs at skill 20.
- Arcane Salvager (tier 2, Blueprint, skill 140; 2 Vision Dust, Lesser Nether Essence): “enables more efficient disenchanting” on top of the Lute’s buff; its tooltip doesn’t say by how much. The Blueprint drops from the Shade of the Archmage in City of Dalaran, Charlga Razorflank in Razorfen Kraul and Rath’mael in the Ruins of Lordaeron, per Zockify.
- Arcane Forge (tier 3, Blueprint, skill 300; Maker’s Spark, 2 Large Brilliant Shards, 4 Greater Eternal Essence): source unknown. Ten recipes need it: the six level 60 epics, Idol of the Dream, Libram of Holy Alacrity, Totem of Thunder and Brilliant Wand.
Our WoW Forever professions guide compares Enchanting’s camp buff with every other profession’s.
What We Don’t Know Yet
- The learn level of Cloak – Greater Defense (205 in Classic). Every other step on our route to 225 was learned in the beta by WoW-Professions’ testers.
- Whether vendors sell the Classic Enchanting formulas above 225, and where the new wand, Eternal wand and level 60 relic formulas come from.
- Forever’s disenchanting odds, and how much the Arcane Salvager improves them.
- Whether Forever’s skill-up chances follow Classic’s formula. Our craft counts assume they do.
- Where the Enchanted Lute is taught, and whether dust and essences fit the new reagent bag slot.
FAQ
Where is the enchanting trainer in WoW Forever?
Every capital has Apprentice and Journeyman enchanting trainers in WoW Forever, for example Betty Quin and Lucan Cordell in Stormwind’s Mage Quarter and Jhag and Godan in Orgrimmar’s Drag. Expert is only taught by Kitta Firewind in the Tower of Azora (Elwynn Forest) and Hgarth at Sun Rock Retreat (Stonetalon), Artisan only by Annora inside Uldaman.
What is the fastest way to level Enchanting 1-300 in WoW Forever?
Make Inferior Stamina bracers with vendor Motes to 25, then cheap orange enchants on your own gear: chest to 70, bracers to 100, cloaks to 130, Lesser Stamina bracers to 165, Lesser Agility boots to 200, Greater Defense cloaks to 225 and Agility gloves to 250. That’s about 250 crafts to 225.
Does WoW Forever have enchanting vellums?
No. The WoW Forever beta client has no enchanting vellum or enchant scroll items, only a placeholder, so enchants still go directly on an item, yours or another player’s through the trade window.
