WoW Forever Cloth Farming Guide: Best Spots for Linen, Wool, Silk, Mageweave, Runecloth and Felcloth
World of Warcraft: Forever launched on November 4, and cloth still works the way it did in Classic: it drops from humanoids, and the mob’s level decides which cloth you get. What changed is demand. Most Tailoring recipes go grey 20 to 45 points earlier in Forever, as our WoW Forever Tailoring leveling guide found, so tailors burn through far more Mageweave and Runecloth, and the new Waylaid Crates and reagent bags pull cloth out of the market too. This WoW Forever cloth farming guide maps the best humanoid camps for every cloth tier and both factions, shows how much cloth each mob level drops, and works out which cloth will be scarce in the first weeks.
How solid this is: WoW Forever keeps Classic’s mob spawns in the original zones, so every camp below holds in Forever. The camps come from the cmangos Classic database, placed on Forever’s zone maps with the map bounds from the beta client; the eight zone maps we use show Classic’s layout with only new labels and small art changes, and Forever redrew zone borders only around the new zones. Mob levels and drop rates are Classic data, because Forever’s loot tables aren’t public. Blizzard’s beta development notes through October 26 change respawn speeds in a few zones but say nothing about cloth drops. Cloth demand comes from the routes in our own profession guides. We will check the numbers against the live game during launch week.
Best Places to Farm Cloth in WoW Forever: Quick Answer
- Linen: level 10 to 15 humanoids, about 0.77 Linen per kill. Alliance: northern Westfall around Jangolode Mine. Horde: the Kolkar and Razormane camps around the Crossroads or the Southsea pirates south of Ratchet.
- Wool: level 21 to 25 humanoids, about 0.37 Wool per kill plus some Linen. Horde: the farmers of Hillsbrad Fields. Both factions: the Syndicate at Durnholde Keep.
- Silk: level 35 to 40 humanoids, 0.5 to 0.6 per kill: the Bloodscalp trolls and Kurzen’s Compound in Stranglethorn, Drywhisker Gorge in Arathi, the Lost Ones in Swamp of Sorrows.
- Mageweave: the Dunemaul ogres in southern Tanaris (level 45-48) drop 0.70 per kill, about twice as much as the Wastewander bandits east of Gadgetzan.
- Runecloth: the four Twilight’s Hammer camps in Silithus (58-60), 0.68 per kill.
- Felcloth: satyrs in Felwood and Azshara, about one Felcloth per 20 to 30 kills.
- What sells: Mageweave first. On our routes a Forever tailor needs about 815 Mageweave by skill 225, 79% more than a Classic route, and it drops only from mobs level 41 and up.
How Cloth Drops Work in WoW Forever
Cloth in WoW Forever drops from humanoids, many undead and satyrs, and the mob’s level decides the type, as in Classic. In the Classic data about one kill in three drops cloth. Each cloth covers about ten mob levels, and the upper half of that range drops roughly twice as much as the lower half: level 46 to 50 mobs average 0.54 Mageweave per kill, level 41 to 45 mobs only 0.34 plus some Silk. So within a band, kill the highest mobs you can handle. A rate of 0.77 per kill means about 77 cloth per 100 kills.
| Mob level | Main cloth per kill | Also drops |
|---|---|---|
| 5-9 | 0.40 Linen | |
| 10-15 | 0.65 Linen | |
| 16-20 | 0.29 Linen | 0.25 Wool |
| 21-25 | 0.34 Wool | 0.23 Linen, 0.06 Silk |
| 26-30 | 0.29 Silk | 0.12 Wool |
| 31-35 | 0.44 Silk | 0.07 Wool |
| 36-40 | 0.53 Silk | 0.09 Mageweave |
| 41-45 | 0.34 Mageweave | 0.13 Silk |
| 46-50 | 0.54 Mageweave | 0.04 Runecloth |
| 51-55 | 0.35 Runecloth | |
| 56-60 | 0.60 Runecloth |

Forever adds nothing on top of this. We found no extra-cloth perk for tailors in the beta client’s Tailoring data (later expansions let tailors loot extra cloth), and the Legacy perk Bountiful Harvest only boosts Mining, Herbalism and Skinning. Two beta changes help farmers: the October 1 build raised creature respawn rates in Hillsbrad Foothills, Ashenvale, Wetlands, Duskwood and Thousand Needles, and the October 16 build raised and evened out respawns in several Wetlands areas, including the Dragonmaw orcs and gnolls, both humanoids that drop cloth. Most Classic camps already respawn in about five minutes.
Linen Cloth Farming in WoW Forever
Linen Cloth drops from humanoids level 5 to 20, and level 10 to 15 mobs drop the most, about 0.77 Linen per kill. For Alliance that means northern Westfall, for Horde the Barrens around the Crossroads. From about level 16 the drop splits into Linen and Wool, so the same camps feed into Wool.

| Map # | Camp (coordinates) | Mob level | Cloth per kill | Faction |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Westfall 1 | Riverpaw gnolls and Defias around Jangolode Mine (47, 19) | 11-13 | 0.87 Linen | Both |
| Westfall 2 | Gnolls and Defias at the Gold Coast Quarry (30, 50) | 13-15 | 0.76 Linen | Both |
| Barrens 1 | Razormane quilboars at Thorn Hill (57, 26) | 10-14 | 0.77 Linen | Both |
| Barrens 2 | Kolkar centaurs north-west of the Crossroads (45, 24), at the Lushwater Oasis (46, 39) and the Stagnant Oasis (55, 42) | 12-16 | 0.77 Linen | Both |
| Barrens 3 | Southsea pirates on the Merchant Coast (63, 46) | 12-15 | 0.78 Linen | Both |
| Barrens 4 | Theramore marines at Northwatch Hold (62, 55) | 15-17 | 0.69 Linen | Horde only |
| Barrens 5 | Venture Co. at the Sludge Fen (58, 7) | 13-18 | 0.61 Linen, 0.11 Wool | Both |
| Stonesplinter troggs in Loch Modan, for dwarves and gnomes | 11-16 | 0.72-0.77 Linen | Both |
Don’t farm Linen for long. Everyone loots it while leveling, and on our routes a Forever tailor needs only 60 Linen, less than half of a Classic route. First Aid is now the bigger buyer at about 150.
Wool Cloth Farming in WoW Forever
Wool Cloth drops from humanoids level 16 to 30, and level 21 to 25 mobs are best at about 0.37 Wool per kill plus a quarter Linen. Hillsbrad Foothills has the densest Wool camps, and its creatures respawn faster since the October 1 beta build.

| Map # | Camp (coordinates) | Mob level | Cloth per kill | Faction |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hillsbrad 1 | Farmers and footmen of Hillsbrad Fields (33, 41) | 22-26 | 0.36 Wool, 0.26 Linen | Horde only |
| Hillsbrad 3 | Syndicate at Durnholde Keep (79, 43) and the camp at (66, 48) | 20-22 | 0.37 Wool, 0.26 Linen | Both |
| Barrens 7 | Bael’dun dwarves at Bael Modan and southern Razormane (46, 83) | 20-26 | 0.36 Wool, 0.26 Linen | Both |
| Barrens 6 | Bristleback quilboars (44, 51) and (52, 55) | 16-20 | 0.36 Linen, 0.29 Wool | Both |
| Mosshide gnolls in the Wetlands (around 35, 30) | 22-27 | 0.37 Wool, 0.24 Linen | Both | |
| Thistlefur furbolgs in north-west Ashenvale (around 35, 38) | 23-24 | 0.37 Wool, 0.26 Linen | Both | |
| Shadowhide gnolls in eastern Redridge | 24-26 | 0.36 Wool, 0.25 Linen | Both |
Wetlands and Ashenvale got the same respawn increase as Hillsbrad. The Hillsbrad camps 2 and 4 on the map already drop more Silk than Wool, which makes them a good bridge into the next tier.
Silk Cloth Farming in WoW Forever
Silk Cloth drops from humanoids level 26 to 45 and peaks at level 35 to 40, about 0.5 to 0.6 Silk per kill. Arathi Highlands and northern Stranglethorn Vale have the most camps for both factions.

| Map # | Camp (coordinates) | Mob level | Silk per kill | Faction |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Arathi 7 | Drywhisker kobolds in Drywhisker Gorge (82, 35) | 35-38 | 0.52 | Both |
| Arathi 6 | Boulderfist ogres at Boulderfist Hall (53, 76) | 35-37 | 0.49 | Both |
| Arathi 5 | Witherbark trolls at Witherbark Village (67, 68) and (68, 80) | 32-36 | 0.44 | Both |
| Arathi 1 | Syndicate at Northfold Manor (32, 29) | 30-33 | 0.44 | Both |
| Arathi 2 | Boulderfist ogres at Boulderfist Outpost (34, 45) | 32-34 | 0.44 | Both |
| Arathi 3 | Dabyrie Farmstead (56, 39) | 30-32 | 0.45 | Horde only |
| Arathi 4 | Hammerfall peons at Go’Shek Farm (62, 57) | 33-35 | 0.45 | Alliance only |
| Stranglethorn 1 | Bloodscalp trolls in the north-west ruins (24, 11) | 34-37 | 0.49 | Both |
| Stranglethorn 2 | Kurzen’s Compound (47, 8) | 32-38 | 0.49 | Both |
| Stranglethorn 3 | Venture Co. at Lake Nazferiti (44, 20) | 34-36 | 0.44 | Both |
| Lost Ones in northern Swamp of Sorrows (around 58, 27), a small camp | 35-37 | 0.60 | Both |
Our Silk Cloth farming guide liked the Lost Ones for the same reason the data does: they sit at the top of the Silk band. Desolace’s Gelkis and Magram centaurs (32-38) are a third option, and Forever’s new centaur quests there start at level 35 since the October 8 build, so expect company.
Mageweave Cloth Farming in WoW Forever
Mageweave Cloth drops from humanoids level 41 to 50, and level 46 to 50 mobs drop twice as much as level 41 to 45 ones. The Dunemaul ogres in southern Tanaris (45-48) are the largest high-rate camp in the Classic data: 89 spawns at 0.70 Mageweave per kill.

| Map # | Camp (coordinates) | Mob level | Cloth per kill | Faction |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tanaris 3 | Dunemaul ogres (40, 54), (47, 65) and (41, 73) | 45-48 | 0.70 Mageweave | Both |
| Felwood 1 | Jadefire satyrs at Jadefire Glen (41, 85) | 49-51 | 0.70 Mageweave | Both |
| Felwood 2 | Deadwood furbolgs at Deadwood Village (48, 91) | 48-50 | 0.70 Mageweave | Both |
| Tanaris 1 | Wastewander bandits (60, 24) and (63, 36) | 40-45 | 0.36 Mageweave, 0.15 Silk | Both |
| Tanaris 2 | Southsea pirates at Lost Rigger Cove (74, 46) | 44-45 | 0.37 Mageweave, 0.15 Silk | Both |
| Stranglethorn 5 | Bloodsail pirates along the coast (24, 54), (29, 70) and (30, 87) | 40-45 | 0.31 Mageweave, 0.22 Silk | Both |
| Stranglethorn 4 | Venture Co. mine and Skullsplitter trolls (44, 43) | 40-44 | 0.24 Mageweave, 0.29 Silk | Both |
| Vilebranch trolls in the southern Hinterlands, Dark Iron dwarves in Searing Gorge, Gordunni Warlords in Feralas | 46-48 | 0.68-0.69 Mageweave | Both |
Mageweave is where Forever’s timing hurts. Tailors start using it at skill 140, still inside the Journeyman rank that opens at character level 10, but mobs below level 41 drop almost none (0.05 to 0.09 per kill at level 36 to 40). Our Mageweave Cloth farming guide has its own map of the Dunemaul camps.
Runecloth Farming in WoW Forever
Runecloth drops from humanoids and undead level 51 and up, and mobs level 56 and higher drop almost twice as much (0.60 against 0.35 per kill). The four Twilight’s Hammer camps in Silithus (58-60) are the best open-world spot at about 0.68 per kill; our Silithus Runecloth farming guide puts it at 3 to 4 stacks an hour.

| Map # | Camp (coordinates) | Mob level | Runecloth per kill | Faction |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Silithus 1 | Twilight Post (26, 34) | 58-60 | 0.68 | Both |
| Silithus 2 | Twilight Base Camp (39, 45) | 58-60 | 0.68 | Both |
| Silithus 3 | Twilight Outpost (19, 84) | 58-60 | 0.67 | Both |
| Silithus 4 | North-east Twilight camp (69, 16) | 58-61 | 0.68 | Both |
| Silithus 5 | Tortured druids and sentinels at Southwind Village (62, 53) | 55-57 | 0.50 | Both |
| Ghosts at Gahrron’s Withering, Western Plaguelands (around 63, 58) | 56-58 | 0.67 | Both | |
| Mossflayer trolls at Zul’Mashar, north-east Eastern Plaguelands | 57-59 | 0.67-0.69 | Both | |
| Winterfall Ursas, Shamans and Runners in Winterspring | 56-58 | 0.65-0.68 | Both | |
| Felwood 6 | Deadwood furbolgs at Felpaw Village (62, 9) | 53-55 | 0.36 | Both |
| Felwood 4 | Jaedenar cultists (38, 55) | 50-55 | 0.31 | Both |
Skip the level 51 to 55 camps once you can handle Silithus: Felpaw Village and Jaedenar give about half the Runecloth per kill. At 60 to 80 Runecloth an hour, the roughly 1,740 Runecloth our Tailoring route needs from 225 to 290 is 22 to 29 hours of farming.
Felcloth Farming and Mooncloth in WoW Forever
Felcloth drops only from satyrs and demons level 50 and up, at about 3.5 to 5% per kill in the Classic data, so expect one Felcloth per 20 to 30 kills. The open-world camps are the Jadefire satyrs in Felwood and the Legashi satyrs in north-east Azshara.

| Camp | Mob level | Felcloth per kill | Also drops |
|---|---|---|---|
| Felwood 5: Jadefire satyrs at Jadefire Run (42, 18) | 52-54 | 3.5% | 0.36 Runecloth |
| Felwood 3: Jadefire satyrs south of Jaedenar (36, 68) | 50-52 | 3.7% | 0.43 Mageweave, 0.14 Runecloth |
| Felwood 4: Jaedenar Legionnaires, the felguards among the cultists | 55 | 4.2% | 0.35 Runecloth |
| Legashi satyrs at the Legash Encampment, Azshara | 51-53 | 3.8-5.0% | 0.37 Runecloth |
| Wildspawn satyrs in Dire Maul East (elite, dungeon) | 55-57 | 5.6-7.1% | 0.75-1.03 Runecloth |
Tailors turn two Felcloth into one Mooncloth. In Forever the pattern needs skill 230 instead of 250, the cooldown in the beta client is 95 hours, and the tooltip still asks for a moonwell, as our Tailoring guide found. Mooncloth has far more uses in Forever: 55 recipes in the beta client’s data take it, against 32 in Classic Era. The 20-slot Bottomless Reagent Bag alone needs 12 Mooncloth, which is 24 Felcloth (roughly 670 satyr kills) and 47.5 days of cooldowns for one tailor. Forever also adds a Felblood Soul Bag, an epic 30-slot soul bag at Tailoring 300 made from 8 Felcloth and 6 Bolts of Runecloth. Our Felcloth farming guide has the camp routes in more detail.
How Much Cloth Tailoring and First Aid Need in WoW Forever
A WoW Forever character who takes both Tailoring and First Aid to the top needs about 210 Linen, 240 Wool, 640 Silk, 905 Mageweave and 1,800 Runecloth on our routes (Tailoring to 290, First Aid to 300). The Forever Tailoring route alone needs 79% more Mageweave and more than twice the Runecloth of a standard Classic route, but 35 to 56% less Linen, Wool and Silk. The Tailoring numbers come from our Tailoring route, the First Aid numbers from our WoW Forever First Aid leveling guide.
| Cloth | Tailoring, Forever route | Tailoring, Classic route | First Aid 1-300 | Engineering 1-300 | Blacksmithing 1-225 | Tailoring + First Aid | Kills at the best camps |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Linen | 60 | 135 | 150 | 45 | 210 | about 270 | |
| Wool | 93 | 170 | 145 | 60 | 238 | about 640 | |
| Silk | 512 | 792 | 124 | 2 | 636 | about 1,200 | |
| Mageweave | 815 | 456 | 90 | 19 | 214 | 905 | about 1,300 |
| Runecloth | about 1,740 (to 290) | 768 | 63 | 26 | about 1,800 | about 2,650 |
The kill counts use the best camp rates above (0.77 Linen, 0.37 Wool, 0.52 Silk, 0.70 Mageweave, 0.68 Runecloth per kill). What that means for prices, as our estimate:
- Mageweave is the bottleneck of launch month. Tailors want it from skill 140 and blacksmiths need 214 for their Mithril pieces, but it only drops once players reach level 41. Expect it to be the most expensive cloth for its level through November.
- Silk is squeezed in the first two weeks. Tailors use 512 between skill 100 and 170, while most characters are still below level 30 and Silk barely drops before 26.
- Runecloth has the biggest demand but comes later. Tailors need it from 225, which needs Artisan at level 35, and nobody could test that range in the beta.
- Linen and Wool will be cheap. Tailors need half of what they used in Classic. Use yours for First Aid, Waylaid Crates and reagent bags instead of flooding the auction house.
Waylaid Crates That Take Cloth
Waylaid Crates are Forever’s new profession drops: you loot one from an enemy, fill it with materials and turn the sealed crate in at the Azeroth Commerce Authority camp in Redridge (Alliance) or the Durotar Supply and Logistics camp in the Barrens (Horde) for Merchant’s Favor. Four Textiles crates take 40 cloth (or leather), and four Fabrics crates take bolts (or two Cured Hides). The cloth amounts are from the beta client, the bolt options and Favor values from Zockify’s crate and Merchant’s Favor pages.
| Crate | Level | Cloth option | Fabrics crate of the same rank | Merchant’s Favor |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Apprentice Textiles | 10 | 40 Linen Cloth | 20 Bolts of Linen Cloth | 5 (Fabrics: 10) |
| Journeyman Textiles | 10 | 40 Wool Cloth or 40 Silk Cloth | 6 Bolts of Woolen Cloth or 10 Bolts of Silk Cloth | 10 (Fabrics: 20) |
| Expert Textiles | 20 | 40 Mageweave Cloth | 8 Bolts of Mageweave | Not published |
| Artisan Textiles | 35 | 40 Runecloth | 8 Bolts of Runecloth | Not published |
Zockify lists two Favor values per rank, one per crate quality; Textiles crates are common and Fabrics crates uncommon in the client, so the higher value for Fabrics is our reading. Zockify’s September 29 list asks for 20 Wool, but the crate recipe in beta build 1.60.1.70374 takes 40. Either way, fill a Journeyman crate with Wool, never Silk, and a Journeyman Fabrics crate with 6 Bolts of Woolen Cloth (18 Wool) if you are a tailor. Your first filled crate also gives a Shipping Label quest worth 50 Favor and 2,000 reputation, and the Performance Bonus talent in the Legacy System gives up to a 15% chance to double a turn-in. The leather options are in our WoW Forever leather farming guide.
Reagent Bags: Tailoring’s Launch Gold Angle
Every WoW Forever character has a separate reagent bag slot, and Tailoring makes seven reagent bags from 6 to 20 slots. Slot counts and materials are from the beta client, pattern sources from Zockify.
| Reagent bag | Slots | Cloth per bag | Other materials | Pattern from |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Linen Reagent Bag | 6 | 12 Linen | 6 Coarse Thread | Unknown |
| Woolen Reagent Bag | 8 | 9 Wool | Fine Thread, Cerulean Dye | Unknown |
| Silk Reagent Bag | 10 | 12 Silk | 2 Heavy Leather, 3 Cerulean Dye | Quest: I Need a Tailor |
| Mageweave Reagent Bag | 12 | 20 Mageweave | Magenta and Cerulean Dye | 60 Merchant’s Favor |
| Runecloth Reagent Bag | 14 | 25 Runecloth | 2 Rugged Leather, Viridian Dye | 60 Merchant’s Favor |
| Mooncloth Reagent Bag | 18 | 20 Runecloth, 1 Mooncloth | 12 alchemist dyes | Unknown |
| Bottomless Reagent Bag | 20 | 40 Runecloth, 12 Mooncloth | Pristine Leather, Hide and Scale, 2 Large Brilliant Shards | Unknown |
Our take: the Linen Reagent Bag is the only low-level bag without alchemist dyes, so whoever finds its pattern first can sell one to nearly every new character in launch week, and 12 Linen per bag is the best use for the Linen glut. Leatherworkers compete with a 6-slot Light Leather Reagent Bag. From 8 to 18 slots the dyes, made from Scarce herbs, limit supply more than cloth does, which keeps those bags expensive.
What We Don’t Know Yet
- Forever’s loot tables, and whether Blizzard changed cloth drops after the beta.
- Cloth in the new zones. Riverglades (levels 35 to 45) and Shen’dralas should be Silk and Mageweave zones by level (our estimate), but their mobs and drops aren’t public. The same goes for the new dungeons.
- How often Waylaid Crates drop, and how much Favor Expert and Artisan crates pay.
- Pattern sources for the Linen, Woolen, Mooncloth and Bottomless Reagent Bags and the Felblood Soul Bag.
FAQ
Where is the best place to farm Runecloth in WoW Forever?
The Twilight’s Hammer camps in Silithus are the best Runecloth farm in WoW Forever: level 58 to 60 humanoids at about 0.68 Runecloth per kill in Classic data, 60 to 80 an hour. Gahrron’s Withering in the Western Plaguelands and Zul’Mashar in the Eastern Plaguelands are close behind.
Where should I farm Mageweave in WoW Forever?
Farm Mageweave in WoW Forever at the Dunemaul ogre camps in southern Tanaris (level 45-48, 0.70 per kill), or at Jadefire Glen and Deadwood Village in southern Felwood. The Wastewander bandits near Gadgetzan drop about half as much.
What level mobs drop Silk Cloth?
Silk Cloth drops from humanoids level 26 to 45, and level 35 to 40 mobs drop the most, about 0.5 to 0.6 per kill in Classic’s data.
Is there cloth scavenging in WoW Forever?
Not in the beta. We found no extra-cloth perk for tailors in the WoW Forever beta client, so cloth drops work as in Classic: every character loots the same amount from the same mob.
