World of Warcraft: Forever launches on November 4, and First Aid got the biggest role change of any secondary skill: it now makes the Minor to Major Healing Potions that used to belong to Alchemy, plus new cures for bleeds, diseases and poisons and the First Aid Kit camp object. This WoW Forever first aid leveling guide builds the cheapest 1-300 route from the beta client’s skill-up data and checks every new potion against the bandage it would replace. The result: bandages are still the cheaper way to level in every bracket, so make potions to drink, not for skill.
How solid this is: thresholds and reagents come from the beta client’s game data (build 1.60.1.70374, October 13), compared with the Classic Era client. Skill 1 to 225 can be tested in the beta, and WoW-Professions’ beta-tested route matches the learn levels and vendors below. Skill 225 to 300 is untested everywhere, because Artisan needs character level 35 and the beta stops at 30. Craft counts are our estimates from Classic’s skill-up formula. Blizzard’s beta development notes up to October 8 contain no First Aid changes.
Quick Answer: First Aid 1-300 in WoW Forever
- Route: Linen Bandage to 45, Heavy Linen Bandage to 80, Wool Bandage to 115, Heavy Wool Bandage to 150, Silk Bandage to 180, Heavy Silk Bandage to 210, Mageweave Bandage to 240, Heavy Mageweave Bandage to 260, Runecloth Bandage to 290, Heavy Runecloth Bandage to 300.
- Cloth: about 150 Linen, 145 Wool, 124 Silk and 17 Mageweave to 225, then 73 Mageweave and 63 Runecloth to 300, in about 395 crafts.
- Bandages or potions: bandages win in every bracket. A potion costs one herb plus 30 copper to 30 silver of vendor vials and spices; a bandage costs cloth you loot anyway.
- Expert (150-225): the book Expert First Aid – Under Wraps, 1 gold, at skill 125 and any character level, from Deneb Walker in Stromgarde or Balai Lok’Wein in Brackenwall Village.
- Artisan (225-300): character level 35 and skill 225, then the Triage quest from Doctor Gustaf VanHowzen in Theramore or Doctor Gregory Victor in Hammerfall.
- Known costs: 1 gold 72 silver for the book and two bandage manuals. Training fees aren’t in the client.
What Changed for First Aid in WoW Forever
WoW Forever First Aid keeps every Classic bandage exactly as it was and adds 14 new recipes on top. We compared the beta client with the Classic Era client: all 14 First Aid recipes the two share have the same yellow and grey skill levels, and bandages heal the same amount per second (Linen Bandage 11, Heavy Runecloth Bandage 250). Everything new is a consumable or a camp object, listed below; our WoW Forever professions guide explains how First Aid fits next to your two main professions.
| Change | Details | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Healing potions moved from Alchemy | Minor, Lesser, regular, Greater, Superior and Major Healing Potion, each from one herb, vendor spices and a vial; same healing and level requirements as in Classic | BlizzCon demo; beta client |
| New curatives | Four poultices (diseases), three tourniquets (bleeds) and Potent Anti-Venom, next to Classic’s three anti-venoms | Beta client |
| Camp objects | First Aid Kit (Stamina buff), Toxin Study and Plague Doctor’s Laboratory | Blizzard’s panel recap; beta client |
| New manuals | Nine new recipes come from Manual items whose source nobody has found yet | Beta client; Zockify |
| No Legacy Points | First Aid milestones give no Legacy Points and there’s no First Aid certification title | Zockify’s First Aid overview |
| Expert and Artisan | Still a book and a quest, as in Classic | Zockify, WoW-Professions |
WoW Forever First Aid Trainers, Expert Book and Triage Quest
WoW Forever first aid trainers in every capital and starting town teach Apprentice and Journeyman (skill 1 to 150), according to Zockify’s beta trainer data and WoW-Professions. Past 150, Expert is a book and Artisan a quest, as in Classic. WoW-Professions found no level requirement for Apprentice in the beta.

How to Get Expert First Aid (150-225)
Expert First Aid in WoW Forever is the book Expert First Aid – Under Wraps, 1 gold, usable at skill 125. In the beta client it has no level requirement and isn’t bound, so the auction house or a higher-level friend works too. Deneb Walker sells it inside Stromgarde Keep (Zockify: take every right turn from the entrance, then cross the bridge), Balai Lok’Wein in Brackenwall Village in northern Dustwallow Marsh. Both also sell Manual: Heavy Silk Bandage (22 silver, skill 180) and Manual: Mageweave Bandage (50 silver, skill 210), so buy all three in one trip. Learn Silk Bandage from any trainer once you hit 150.
How to Get Artisan First Aid (225-300)
Artisan First Aid needs character level 35 and skill 225. The Alliance Trauma quest in Ironforge or Horde Trauma in Orgrimmar sends you to Doctor Gustaf VanHowzen in Theramore or Doctor Gregory Victor in Hammerfall for Triage: you get a stack of Triage Bandages and must save 15 wounded soldiers before 6 of them die, critically injured ones first. Turn it in the moment you reach 15, since later deaths can still fail it (WoW-Professions’ tip). The doctors also teach the last three bandages. None of this can be tested in the beta yet, but the Triage Bandage item is still in the client.
WoW Forever First Aid Leveling Route 1-225
The cheapest way to level First Aid from 1 to 225 in WoW Forever is the bandage chain. Until a recipe turns yellow, every craft is a point; at grey it stops. Each switch sits where the next bandage costs less cloth per point, which is why Linen Bandage runs to 45, five points longer than most Classic guides.
| Skill | Recipe (yellow / grey) | Crafts | Cloth | Recipe from |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1-45 | Linen Bandage (30 / 60) | 49 | 49 Linen | Known with First Aid |
| 45-80 | Heavy Linen Bandage (50 / 100) | 50 | 100 Linen | Trainer, skill 40 |
| 80-115 | Wool Bandage (80 / 150) | 48 | 48 Wool | Trainer, skill 80 |
| 115-150 | Heavy Wool Bandage (115 / 185) | 48 | 96 Wool | Trainer, skill 115 |
| 150-180 | Silk Bandage (150 / 210) | 41 | 41 Silk | Trainer, skill 150 (needs the Expert book) |
| 180-210 | Heavy Silk Bandage (180 / 240) | 41 | 82 Silk | Manual, skill 180 |
| 210-225 | Mageweave Bandage (210 / 270) | 17 | 17 Mageweave | Manual, skill 210 |
Three notes on the route:
- Train Journeyman at 50 and buy the Expert book by 150, or skill-ups stop at 75 and 150.
- No Mageweave at 210? Heavy Silk Bandage gives skill until 240, so finishing to 225 with it costs about 81 Silk instead of 17 Mageweave. WoW-Professions did that in the level 30 beta, where Mageweave is scarce.
- Keep some bandages: the First Aid Kit takes 3 Linen Bandages, the Toxin Study 2 Mageweave Bandages and the Plague Doctor’s Laboratory 5 Heavy Runecloth Bandages.
WoW-Professions’ beta-tested shopping list to 225 has 154 Linen, 150 Wool, 134 Silk and 17 Mageweave. Our expected counts are within 8% of that, so their testing backs the formula behind our numbers.
First Aid 225-300: The Untested Part
First Aid 225 to 300 in WoW Forever can’t be tested before launch, because Artisan needs level 35. The thresholds below are from the beta client and match Classic’s; the recipes from 240 on come from the Triage doctors if Forever keeps Classic’s trainer lists.
| Skill | Recipe (yellow / grey) | Crafts | Cloth | Recipe from |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 225-240 | Mageweave Bandage (210 / 270) | 24 | 24 Mageweave | Already known |
| 240-260 | Heavy Mageweave Bandage (240 / 300) | 24 | 48 Mageweave | Triage doctor, skill 240 |
| 260-290 | Runecloth Bandage (260 / 320) | 41 | 41 Runecloth | Triage doctor, skill 260 |
| 290-300 | Heavy Runecloth Bandage (290 / 350) | 11 | 22 Runecloth | Triage doctor, skill 290 |
WoW-Professions’ draft for this range uses Superior Healing Potion for 225-240 and Major Healing Potion for 275-300. Through the same formula, that plan needs 43 Crystal Vials and 96 Soothing Spices (about 12 gold at a vendor), 17 Sungrass, 27 Golden Sansam and two Manuals nobody has found a source for. Ours costs 24 more Mageweave and 46 more Runecloth instead, and nothing from a vendor.
Bandages or Healing Potions: Which Is Cheaper?
Bandages are the cheaper way to level First Aid in WoW Forever in every bracket. Each potion needs vendor goods on top of the herb: an Empty Vial and Mild Spices for 30 copper at the low end, a Crystal Vial and three Soothing Spices for 29.8 silver at the top. The table covers each bracket where a potion is orange, which is where potions look best, and even there your cloth would need to be worth a lot:
| Skill | Potion swap | Potion path | Bandage path | Potions win if one cloth is worth more than |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1-55 | Minor Healing Potion | 54 crafts: 54 Peacebloom, 16 silver of vials and spices | 60 crafts: 70 Linen | 23 copper |
| 55-85 | Lesser Healing Potion | 30 crafts: 30 Briarthorn, 12 silver | 45 crafts: 80 Linen, 5 Wool | 14 copper |
| 110-135 | Healing Potion | 25 crafts: 25 Bruiseweed, 60 silver | 33 crafts: 56 Wool | 1.1 silver |
| 155-175 | Greater Healing Potion (manual) | 20 crafts: 20 Liferoot, 64 silver | 27 crafts: 27 Silk | 2.4 silver |
| 215-230 | Superior Healing Potion (manual) | 15 crafts: 15 Sungrass, 4 gold | 19 crafts: 19 Mageweave | 21 silver |
| 275-290 | Major Healing Potion (manual) | 15 crafts: 15 Golden Sansam, 4.5 gold | 24 crafts: 24 Runecloth | 19 silver |
The last column assumes you picked the herbs yourself and only pay for vendor goods. For scale, a vendor pays 13 copper for Linen, 33 copper for Wool, 1.5 silver for Silk, 2.5 silver for Mageweave and 4 silver for Runecloth. Only 55 to 85 is close: if Linen sells for more than 14 copper on your server and you carry Briarthorn, Lesser Healing Potions are cheaper and save 15 crafts. The catches: the client doesn’t store when trainers teach Lesser Healing Potion and Healing Potion (Classic Alchemy taught them at 55 and 110, our estimate), and the three manual potions have no known source.
Our advice: level with bandages and craft the potions you will actually drink. Potions still give skill until they turn grey, so 20 Healing Potions for your first dungeons at skill 120 are 20 points you don’t need cloth for.

Healing Potions, Curatives and the First Aid Kit
Healing Potions
| Potion | Learn / yellow / grey | Reagents | Heals | Use level |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Minor Healing Potion | 1 / 55 / 95 | Peacebloom, Mild Spices, Empty Vial | 70-90 | 1 |
| Lesser Healing Potion | Trainer / 85 / 125 | Briarthorn, 2 Mild Spices, Empty Vial | 140-180 | 3 |
| Healing Potion | Trainer / 135 / 175 | Bruiseweed, Hot Spices, Leaded Vial | 280-360 | 12 |
| Greater Healing Potion | Manual 155 / 175 / 215 | Liferoot, 3 Hot Spices, Leaded Vial | 455-585 | 21 |
| Superior Healing Potion | Manual 215 / 230 / 270 | Sungrass, Soothing Spices, Crystal Vial | 700-900 | 35 |
| Major Healing Potion | Manual 275 / 290 / 330 | Golden Sansam, 3 Soothing Spices, Crystal Vial | 1,050-1,750 | 45 |
Healing values, level requirements and the shared two-minute potion cooldown are the same as in Classic. Mild Spices (10 copper), Hot Spices (40 copper) and Soothing Spices (1.6 silver) are Classic’s cooking spices from cooking supply vendors (our WoW Forever cooking leveling guide lists where to buy them); vials come from Alchemy suppliers. Since every character can make these potions, expect low-level ones to sell for little; Superior and Major are the ones raiders will buy. Our WoW Forever herbalism leveling guide shows where each herb grows, and our WoW Forever alchemy leveling guide covers the Discolored Healing Potions alchemists got instead.
Curatives: Poultices, Tourniquets and Anti-Venoms
| Curative | Yellow / grey | Reagents (makes) | Cures | Recipe from |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Anti-Venom | 80 / 150 | Small Venom Sac (3) | Poisons up to level 25 | Trainer |
| Simple Poultice | 90 / 160 | Spider Ichor, Mild Spices, Bottle of Dalaran Noir (3) | Diseases up to 25 | Trainer |
| Woolen Tourniquet | 120 / 190 | 2 Wool Cloth, 2 Fine Thread (1) | Bleeds up to 30 | Trainer |
| Strong Anti-Venom | 130 / 200 | Large Venom Sac (3) | Poisons up to 35 | Manual, skill 130 |
| Clever Poultice | 160 / 220 | Murloc Fin, Soothing Spices, Thunder Ale (3) | Diseases up to 35 | Manual, skill 140 |
| Leather Tourniquet | 220 / 280 | 2 Thick Leather, 2 Silken Thread (1) | Bleeds up to 45 | Manual, skill 200 |
| Superior Poultice | 225 / 285 | Elemental Water, Hot Spices, Skin of Dwarven Stout (3) | Diseases up to 45 | Manual, skill 210 |
| Potent Anti-Venom | 230 / 290 | Swollen Venom Sac (3) | Poisons up to 45 | Manual, skill 215 |
| Surgical Tourniquet | 280 / 340 | 2 Rugged Leather, 2 Runecloth, 2 Heavy Silken Thread (1) | Bleeds up to 65 | Manual, skill 265 |
| Powerful Poultice | 295 / 355 | Essence of Water, Hot Spices, Flagon of Dwarven Honeymead (3) | Diseases up to 65 | Manual, skill 280 |
| Powerful Anti-Venom | 300 / 360 | Huge Venom Sac (3; Classic made 1) | Poisons up to 65 | Formula, skill 300 |
Anti-venoms work in combat; poultices and tourniquets don’t, and each curative has a one-minute cooldown. They help Warriors, Rogues, Hunters, Mages and Warlocks most, since none of them can remove poisons or diseases in Classic’s class kits, and tourniquets help everyone, because bleeds can’t be dispelled. For a leveling character, a stack of each trainer curative is enough: Anti-Venom for spider zones, Simple Poultice for diseased undead and Woolen Tourniquet for bleeds like Rend.
First Aid Kit, Toxin Study and Plague Doctor’s Laboratory
First Aid’s camp objects give Stamina to everyone sitting at your campfire, and the buff doesn’t stack with Power Word: Fortitude. Blizzard’s BlizzCon systems panel recap says each profession’s first camp object is learned at skill 20, from a trainer or from the NPCs who introduce camping, while the advanced ones come from Blueprints that drop from dungeon bosses.
- First Aid Kit (skill 20): 3 Linen Bandages and a Refreshing Spring Water. Stamina by level: 3 below 12, 8 at 12-23, 21 at 24-35, 34 at 36-47, 45 at 48-59 and 56 at 60 (BlizzCon showed the 36-47 value). The client gives it no skill-up range, so don’t count on it for points.
- Toxin Study (Blueprint, skill 140): an Anti-Venom, 2 Mageweave Bandages and 2 Simple Wood. The same buff, plus healing potions and anti-venom for the camp. The Blueprint drops from Commander Springvale in Shadowfang Keep, per Zockify.
- Plague Doctor’s Laboratory (Blueprint, skill 300): 2 Strong Anti-Venoms, 5 Heavy Runecloth Bandages and 2 Simple Wood. The same buff, plus healing potions and poultices. Blueprint source unknown.
All camp objects need a campfire nearby and share a one-hour cooldown. The client also holds conjured “Perishable” Minor, Lesser and regular Healing Potions; our guess is that those are what the Study and the Laboratory hand out.
Cloth per Bracket and the Competition With Tailoring
First Aid competes with Tailoring for every cloth type, and Forever moved that competition to the top tiers. Our WoW Forever tailoring leveling guide found that Forever tailors go through far more Mageweave and Runecloth than Classic tailors, and less of everything below:
| Cloth | First Aid (our route) | Tailoring, Forever route | Tailoring, Classic route | Drops from (Classic, roughly) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Linen | 150 | 60 | 135 | Humanoids up to level 20 |
| Wool | 145 | 93 | 170 | Humanoids level 15 to 30 |
| Silk | 124 | 512 | 792 | Humanoids level 25 to 40 |
| Mageweave | 90 | 815 | 456 | Humanoids level 41 to 50 (a trickle from 36) |
| Runecloth | 63 | About 1,740 to skill 290 | 768 | Humanoids level 51 to 60 |
Linen, Wool and Silk should cost less than in Classic, since tailors need less of them. Mageweave and Runecloth will be the expensive cloth in the first weeks after launch, but First Aid needs only 90 and 63 of them, less than a character usually loots from level 35 to 60 in Classic, so keep yours. The timing gap is skill 210: if your character is still in the late 20s, make Heavy Silk Bandages to 225 and do Mageweave later. Our WoW Forever leveling guide shows which zones you’ll be in at each level.
What We Don’t Know Yet
- When trainers teach Lesser Healing Potion, Healing Potion, Simple Poultice and Woolen Tourniquet. The beta client doesn’t store trainer learn levels.
- Where the nine new manuals, Manual: Strong Anti-Venom and the Plague Doctor’s Laboratory Blueprint come from. The new manuals are uncommon quality and unbound, which suggests world drops, but that’s our reading.
- Whether Artisan First Aid still uses Triage at launch. The client also holds new rank spells for all four First Aid ranks, the kind other professions learn from trainers, so Blizzard could still change how ranks are taught.
- Training costs, and whether Journeyman First Aid needs level 10 like the crafting professions.
- Whether Forever’s skill-up chances follow Classic’s formula. Our craft counts assume they do.
FAQ
Where is the first aid trainer in WoW Forever?
Every capital and starting town has a First Aid trainer in WoW Forever for skill 1 to 150, for example Arnok in Orgrimmar and Shaina Fuller in Stormwind. Expert comes from a book sold in Stromgarde and Brackenwall Village, Artisan from the Triage quest in Theramore and Hammerfall.
How do you get Expert First Aid in WoW Forever?
Buy Expert First Aid – Under Wraps for 1 gold from Deneb Walker in Stromgarde Keep (Alliance) or Balai Lok’Wein in Brackenwall Village (Horde) once your First Aid reaches 125. The book has no level requirement in the beta and can be traded.
Can you level First Aid with healing potions in WoW Forever?
Yes, Minor Healing Potion works from skill 1 and five more potions give skill up to 300, but bandages are cheaper in every bracket, because each potion needs a vendor vial and spices. Make the potions you will drink.
What does the First Aid Kit do in WoW Forever?
The First Aid Kit is First Aid’s camp object at skill 20. Placed next to a campfire, it gives everyone sitting there extra Stamina for an hour, from 3 at low level to 56 at level 60, and it doesn’t stack with Power Word: Fortitude.
