Plaguebloom farming in WoW Classic happens in exactly three zones: Eastern Plaguelands, Western Plaguelands and Felwood. You need 285 Herbalism to pick it. The best all-round route is a loop through the middle of Eastern Plaguelands, because it also passes Dreamfoil, Golden Sansam, Sungrass and the occasional Black Lotus. Western Plaguelands is the shorter loop and pairs well with mining or skinning. Felwood is the choice when you also want Gromsblood.
Plaguebloom goes into six vanilla alchemy recipes, most importantly the Elixir of the Mongoose, the standard agility elixir for melee and hunters in raids. It is not a Flask of the Titans ingredient, which is a common mix-up. The best place to farm Plaguebloom in WoW Classic is Eastern Plaguelands, which has about twice as many spawn points as either of the other two zones. Pick your zone like this:
- Eastern Plaguelands: the default. Most Plaguebloom, plus Dreamfoil, Golden Sansam, Sungrass, a little Mountain Silversage and Black Lotus. Also the most competition.
- Western Plaguelands: a short loop through the farm fields north of Andorhal. Fewer herbs, but good if your second gathering profession is Mining or Skinning.
- Felwood: a north-south run along the main road. The only Plaguebloom zone with Gromsblood, so it is the pick for Elixir of Brute Force and Flask of the Titans materials.
Requirements: 285 Herbalism (270 for a Tauren, thanks to Cultivation’s +15), which means Artisan Herbalism. A level 58 to 60 character with a mount is comfortable in all three zones.
Where Plaguebloom Grows: Zones and Spawn Points
Plaguebloom grows only in Eastern Plaguelands, Western Plaguelands and Felwood in WoW Classic. The ClassicDB spawn database lists 147 Plaguebloom spawn points in Eastern Plaguelands, 77 in Western Plaguelands and 63 in Felwood. Only a share of those points has a node at any time, so the counts show where the herb is dense, not how many nodes you will see.

Numbers in brackets are spawn points for that herb in the same zone, also from ClassicDB. ClassicDB was built from private server data, so Blizzard’s actual spawn tables can differ in detail. The ratios between zones match what players report on official realms.
Best Plaguebloom Farming Route: Eastern Plaguelands
The best Plaguebloom farming route in Eastern Plaguelands is a loop through the middle and south of the zone, away from the Stratholme end. Start at Crown Guard Tower, ride east past Corin’s Crossing and the Pestilent Scar toward Light’s Hope Chapel, turn north past Eastwall Tower and Blackwood Lake, then come back down through the center to where you started.
Light’s Hope Chapel on the east side has a flight path and a graveyard, which makes it the natural place to start the loop and to recover after a death. If the loop is crowded, extend it west into Terrordale, which has its own small cluster of spawn points near the Western Plaguelands border. Plaguewood in the northwest has Plaguebloom and several Black Lotus spawns too, but the mobs there hit harder and Stratholme groups pass through constantly. Western Plaguelands Plaguebloom Route
The Western Plaguelands Plaguebloom route circles the four farm fields north of Andorhal: Felstone Field, Dalson’s Tears, the Writhing Haunt and Gahrron’s Withering, with a detour north to Northridge Lumber Camp. Nearly all of the zone’s Plaguebloom spawn points sit in that area, so the loop is short and fast.
Western Plaguelands has fewer herbs than its eastern neighbor, but Arthas’ Tears is common here, and the same fields and hills are good for Thorium veins and for skinning the zone’s beasts for Rugged Leather. If you run Herbalism with Mining or Skinning, this loop can beat Eastern Plaguelands on total gold. One more spot: the island of Caer Darrow outside Scholomance has a tight cluster of Plaguebloom spawns (14 in ClassicDB). It is a short swim from the loop’s east end and worth a look every other lap.
Felwood Plaguebloom and Gromsblood Route
The Felwood Plaguebloom route runs north to south along the zone’s main road, because the spawns form a narrow band down the middle of Felwood. Start in the north around Irontree Woods, ride south through Shatter Scar Vale and past Jaedenar, and finish between the Emerald Sanctuary and Deadwood Village before riding back up.
Felwood has the fewest Plaguebloom spawn points of the three zones, but it is the only one with Gromsblood (54 spawn points), and it has as much Dreamfoil as Eastern Plaguelands. That makes it the best route if you craft Elixir of Brute Force (2 Gromsblood, 2 Plaguebloom) or sell Gromsblood for Flask of the Titans. How Much Plaguebloom Per Hour?
Expect roughly 20 to 60 Plaguebloom per hour in Eastern Plaguelands on an epic mount, plus about the same amount of other herbs. This is our estimate, not a measured number: nodes usually give 1 to 3 herbs, a loop takes 10 to 15 minutes, and the result depends mostly on how many other herbalists are in the zone.
- Quiet realm or off-peak hours: the top of that range, sometimes more.
- Busy realm in the evening: the bottom of the range. On crowded realms players have reported riding through all three zones and finding only a handful of nodes.
- Western Plaguelands and Felwood: roughly half the Eastern Plaguelands rate for Plaguebloom alone, going by the spawn counts. The extra Gromsblood or ore makes up some of the difference.
If another herbalist is already circling your loop, switch zones instead of following them.
What Is Plaguebloom Used For in WoW Classic?
Plaguebloom is used for six alchemy recipes in WoW Classic, all elixirs and potions for level 60 content. Every recipe takes two Plaguebloom. None of the flasks use it: Flask of the Titans needs Gromsblood, Stonescale Oil and Black Lotus, and Major Healing and Major Mana Potions use other herbs.

Elixir of the Mongoose is what keeps Plaguebloom in demand. Every agility class uses it for every raid hour. A quick calculation: a 3-hour raid night costs one player 3 elixirs, which is 6 Plaguebloom. A guild with ten players on Mongoose burns about 60 Plaguebloom per raid night, three full stacks, before counting Mageblood and Sages for the healers. That is why the price holds up long after a realm’s first year.
Plaguebloom Price and Value
Plaguebloom sold for under 1 gold up to about 3 gold each on Classic Era realms in July 2026, depending on the realm. WoWAuctions’ scans from July 15, 2026 showed a market average of 72 silver on Firemaw (EU, Horde) and 3 gold 21 silver on Whitemane (US, Horde); on some smaller realms none were listed at all.
Check your own realm before you farm. Plaguebloom has a steadier price than most herbs because of the raid demand above, but Mountain Silversage (the other half of Mongoose) and Black Lotus usually sell for more per herb. If your realm pays little for Plaguebloom, craft the elixirs yourself or sell the Dreamfoil and Sansam from the same loop.
Plaguebloom on Classic Era, Hardcore and TBC Anniversary
Plaguebloom is identical on Classic Era and Hardcore realms: same three zones, same 285 requirement, same recipes. The difference is in what you play, as of September 2026:
- Classic Era: the permanent vanilla realms. Raid demand for Mongoose, Mageblood and Brute Force keeps Plaguebloom worth farming, and competition in Eastern Plaguelands is much lower than in 2019 and 2020.
- Hardcore: Felwood is the safest of the three zones with mobs from level 48 to 55. In Eastern Plaguelands, stay out of Plaguewood and keep a movement escape ready. Most herbing deaths come from pulling a second pack while looting a node.
- TBC Anniversary: the 20th Anniversary vanilla realms moved to Burning Crusade Classic Anniversary (pre-patch on January 13, 2026, expansion launch on February 5) and are in Phase 3 (Black Temple) since August 27. Plaguebloom still grows in the same places, but at level 70 the TBC elixirs replace the vanilla ones, so demand mostly comes from alchemists leveling through the 270 to 300 range. It is rarely worth a dedicated farm there.
In the current retail game, Plaguebloom no longer exists under that name: patch 4.0.3a (Cataclysm) renamed it to Sorrowmoss.
Plaguebloom in WoW Forever
World of Warcraft: Forever launches on November 4, 2026 on the vanilla world, but Plaguebloom node locations in Forever are not confirmed yet: the beta is capped well below the level of the Plaguelands, so nobody has farmed there. One confirmed beta change touches herbs: the Tauren racial Cultivation now grows bonus herbs anyone can pick, as long as their level is at least the herb’s Herbalism requirement divided by 5.
