The best place for Dreamfoil farming in WoW Classic is Azshara. It has the most Dreamfoil spawn points of any zone, the lowest-level mobs of the Dreamfoil zones, and flat, open ground you can loop on a mount. Eastern Plaguelands and Un’Goro Crater come next and pay better if you also want Plaguebloom, Black Lotus or Golden Sansam from the same trip. You need Herbalism 270 to pick Dreamfoil.
Dreamfoil is the main herb behind caster consumables in Classic: 30 go into every Flask of Supreme Power and Flask of Distilled Wisdom, and it is in Major Mana Potions, Greater Arcane Elixirs and all five greater protection potions. This guide covers Classic Era and Hardcore realms, plus TBC Anniversary, where Dreamfoil matters mostly for leveling Herbalism.
Updated September 25, 2026: rewritten with spawn counts per zone, yield estimates, a full recipe table, TBC Anniversary and Hardcore notes, and a note on WoW Forever.
Quick Answer: Best Place to Farm Dreamfoil
- Where: Azshara for pure Dreamfoil, Eastern Plaguelands if you want Plaguebloom and a chance at Black Lotus too, Un’Goro Crater for Dreamfoil plus Golden Sansam.
- Skill: Herbalism 270. Mob levels in these zones run from 45 to 60.
- How much: roughly 50 to 100 Dreamfoil per hour on a quiet realm, plus other herbs on the way. That is our estimate, not a measured number; competition changes it a lot.
- Who needs it: alchemists making flasks, Major Mana Potions and protection potions for raids, and any herbalist leveling from 270 to 300.
Where to Farm Dreamfoil: All Zones Compared
Dreamfoil grows in six Classic zones according to Wowhead’s Classic spawn data: Azshara, Eastern Plaguelands, Un’Goro Crater, Burning Steppes, Western Plaguelands and Silithus. Felwood also has Dreamfoil according to Warcraft Wiki and several guides. The table ranks the zones by the number of spawn points Wowhead lists.
| Zone | Mob levels | Dreamfoil spawn points | Other herbs on the way | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Azshara | 45 to 55 | 98 | Golden Sansam, Sungrass, Mountain Silversage | Best pure Dreamfoil farm |
| Eastern Plaguelands | 53 to 60 | 76 | Plaguebloom, Mountain Silversage, Golden Sansam, Black Lotus | Best mixed-herb farm |
| Un’Goro Crater | 48 to 55 | 68 | Golden Sansam, Sungrass, Mountain Silversage | Good, but busy and has elite dinosaurs |
| Burning Steppes | 50 to 58 | 43 | Mountain Silversage, Golden Sansam, Black Lotus | Worth it for Black Lotus runs |
| Western Plaguelands | 51 to 58 | 39 | Plaguebloom, Sungrass, Mountain Silversage | Side stop, combine with EPL |
| Silithus | 55 to 60 | 38 | Black Lotus, Mountain Silversage, Golden Sansam | Weakest for Dreamfoil |
| Felwood | 48 to 55 | no count | Plaguebloom, Gromsblood, Golden Sansam | Has Dreamfoil, but no spawn data to compare |
The counts include a few near-duplicate points, so read them as a ranking, not exact node numbers. Wowhead’s Classic data has no Felwood entries for any herb, not even Plaguebloom or Gromsblood, which certainly grow there, so the missing Felwood count is a data gap.
Some guides also list the Blasted Lands. That is true in modern retail WoW, where the zone was redone with Cataclysm, but Wowhead’s Classic data shows only Sungrass and Gromsblood there, no Dreamfoil.
Best Dreamfoil Route: Azshara
Azshara is the best Dreamfoil farming zone in Classic because it has the most spawn points (98 on Wowhead, about 30% more than Eastern Plaguelands) and the weakest mobs of all Dreamfoil zones. The Dreamfoil grows on the orange grassland in the west and along the northern coast, so the route is two loops that meet near the west end of the zone.

- Start at the western edge of the zone and ride the northern loop out along the coast to the far northeast, then come back on the inner side of the ridge.
- Back in the west, ride the southern loop around the big crater-shaped hill and out to the southeastern grassland, then return along the southern edge.
- Repeat. If another herbalist is working the zone, take one loop and leave them the other instead of racing for the same nodes.
The same loops pass plenty of Golden Sansam and Sungrass, and miners will see Mithril and some Thorium along the cliffs. At level 60 you can ride past most of the level 45 to 55 mobs without a fight.
Un’Goro Crater Dreamfoil Route
In Un’Goro Crater, Dreamfoil grows on the grassy ring between the crater walls and Fire Plume Ridge, so the route is simply two circles around the central volcano. Un’Goro has 68 Dreamfoil spawn points on Wowhead and more Golden Sansam than any zone except Azshara, which makes it the best choice if you need both herbs for Major Rejuvenation Potions or Greater Dreamless Sleep Potions.

Alternate between the inner and the outer circle; the southeast has the densest Dreamfoil. The very edge of the crater has Thorium, Mithril and Mountain Silversage, but almost no Dreamfoil. Watch for the elite devilsaurs that roam the open grass; they hit hard and see you from far away.
Dreamfoil in the Plaguelands, Burning Steppes and Silithus
Eastern Plaguelands is the second-best Dreamfoil zone with 76 spawn points, and the best one for mixed herb farming. The Dreamfoil is spread evenly, so there is no tight route: ride a wide loop through the whole zone. The same loop gives Plaguebloom, which only grows in the Plaguelands and Felwood (see our Plaguebloom farming routes), Mountain Silversage and the occasional Black Lotus. Western Plaguelands adds 39 more Dreamfoil points and fits into the same trip.
Burning Steppes (43 points) and Silithus (38 points) have too little Dreamfoil to farm it on purpose. They are Black Lotus zones: if you already run a lotus route there (our Black Lotus farming guide has the spawn points), pick up the Dreamfoil as a bonus.
How Much Dreamfoil per Hour?
Expect roughly 50 to 100 Dreamfoil per hour in Azshara on a realm with little competition. This is our estimate, not a measured value: a Dreamfoil node usually gives 1 to 3 herbs, and on a mounted Azshara loop we’d expect 25 to 40 Dreamfoil nodes per hour. Classic herb spawn points are shared between several herb types, so some points on your route will be Golden Sansam or Sungrass instead.
What that means in consumables, using the Classic Era recipe amounts:
| Consumable | Dreamfoil per craft | Farming time (estimate) |
|---|---|---|
| Flask of Supreme Power or Flask of Distilled Wisdom | 30 | 20 to 35 minutes per flask |
| Major Mana Potion | 3 | about 2 to 4 minutes |
| Greater Arcane Elixir | 3 | about 2 to 4 minutes |
| Any greater protection potion | 1 | about 1 minute |
A caster who raids with one flask, two Greater Arcane Elixirs and three Major Mana Potions uses about 45 Dreamfoil per raid night, or roughly half an hour to an hour of farming. The flask is two thirds of that, so Dreamfoil prices on Classic Era realms follow flask demand. Prices differ a lot between realms; check your own Auction House before deciding whether to sell or craft.
What Is Dreamfoil Used For in WoW Classic?
In WoW Classic, Dreamfoil is used only by Alchemy, in 13 recipes: two flasks, three buff elixirs and potions, three restoration potions and five greater protection potions. The amounts below are from Wowhead’s Classic recipe data.
| Recipe | Reagents | Used for |
|---|---|---|
| Flask of Supreme Power | 30 Dreamfoil, 10 Mountain Silversage, 1 Black Lotus | Up to 150 spell damage for 2 hours |
| Flask of Distilled Wisdom | 30 Dreamfoil, 10 Icecap, 1 Black Lotus | 2,000 maximum mana for 2 hours |
| Major Mana Potion | 3 Dreamfoil, 2 Icecap | Restores 1,350 to 2,250 mana |
| Greater Arcane Elixir | 3 Dreamfoil, 1 Mountain Silversage | Up to 35 spell damage for 1 hour |
| Mageblood Potion | 1 Dreamfoil, 2 Plaguebloom | 12 mana per 5 seconds for 1 hour |
| Elixir of the Sages | 1 Dreamfoil, 2 Plaguebloom | 18 Intellect and Spirit for 1 hour |
| Greater Dreamless Sleep Potion | 2 Dreamfoil, 1 Golden Sansam | Heals 2,100 health and mana over 12 sec sleep |
| Major Rejuvenation Potion | 4 Dreamfoil, 4 Golden Sansam, 1 Heart of the Wild | Restores 1,440 to 1,760 health and mana |
| Greater Fire / Frost / Nature / Shadow / Arcane Protection Potion | 1 Dreamfoil plus Elemental Fire, Elemental Water, Elemental Earth, Shadow Oil or Dream Dust | Absorbs 1,950 to 3,250 damage of that school |
All recipes also need a vial. The protection potions are the hidden Dreamfoil sink: raids buy Greater Fire Protection Potions for Molten Core and Blackwing Lair, Greater Nature Protection for Ahn’Qiraj and Greater Shadow Protection for Naxxramas, and each one uses a Dreamfoil. Plant-type mobs of level 50 to 60 occasionally drop Dreamfoil, but not often enough to farm.
Dreamfoil in TBC Anniversary
On TBC Classic Anniversary realms, Dreamfoil matters for two reasons: it is the herb you pick from Herbalism 270 to 300, and it grows in Hellfire Peninsula and Zangarmarsh, the first two Outland zones. Wowhead’s TBC data lists 90 Dreamfoil points in Hellfire Peninsula and 74 in Zangarmarsh, both more than any Azeroth zone except Azshara. Felweed needs 300 skill, so Dreamfoil in Hellfire bridges the gap while you quest.
The recipes changed with the Burning Crusade. Since patch 2.1, Flask of Supreme Power and Flask of Distilled Wisdom need only 7 Dreamfoil plus 3 Mountain Silversage or Icecap and a Black Lotus, and Flask of Supreme Power gives up to 70 spell damage instead of 150. Adept’s Elixir (1 Dreamfoil, 1 Felweed) adds up to 24 spell damage and healing and 24 spell crit rating, a solid battle elixir for casters and healers. Demand is far lower than in Classic Era, so on TBC Anniversary Dreamfoil is mostly a leveling herb.
Classic Era, Hardcore and Anniversary Realms
The Classic numbers in this guide apply to Classic Era and Hardcore realms. The non-Hardcore Classic Anniversary realms moved on to TBC Anniversary on January 13, 2026, while the Hardcore Anniversary realms stayed on vanilla, as Blizzard Watch reported. Spawn points and recipes are the same on all vanilla realms.
On Hardcore, zone choice matters more than yield. Azshara is the safest Dreamfoil zone, with the lowest mob levels and open ground where you see threats coming. Un’Goro’s elite devilsaurs and the level 58 to 60 mobs in Eastern Plaguelands and Silithus punish a dismount in the wrong place, so farm those only at level 60 with an escape plan.
Dreamfoil in WoW Forever
World of Warcraft: Forever launches on November 4, 2026, on the vanilla world with a level 60 cap, but Blizzard hasn’t confirmed anything about Dreamfoil node locations or recipes yet. The beta is capped at level 20 as of September 25, far below the Dreamfoil zones. One confirmed detail touches it: Blizzard’s September 24 beta development notes say the reworked Tauren racial Cultivation grows bonus herbs anyone can pick if their level is at least the herb’s required skill divided by 5. If Dreamfoil keeps its 270 requirement, that means level 54. For what Forever changed about races, see our WoW Forever best race guide.
FAQ
What level is Dreamfoil?
Dreamfoil needs Herbalism 270 to pick. Every zone where it grows in Classic has mobs of level 45 or higher, with Azshara the lowest at 45 to 55.
Where is the best place to farm Dreamfoil in WoW Classic?
Azshara. It has the most Dreamfoil spawn points (98 on Wowhead), the weakest mobs and usually the least competition. Eastern Plaguelands is the better choice if you also want Plaguebloom and Black Lotus.
Is Dreamfoil used in TBC?
Yes, but much less. In TBC, Dreamfoil goes into Adept’s Elixir, Major Mana Potions and the old flasks, which need only 7 Dreamfoil since patch 2.1. Its main use on TBC Anniversary is leveling Herbalism from 270 to 300 in Hellfire Peninsula and Zangarmarsh.
