Which Alchemy Specializations are there?
Alchemy Specializations have been introduced into World of Warcraft with the (re-)release of The Burning Crusade (TBC). They give players a chance of creating up to 4 additional Potions, Elixirs or Transmuted Items without additional material cost. There are three of these Specializations:
- Elixir Mastery – Applies to Elixirs and Flasks. This is the most common choice.
- Potion Mastery – Applies to Potions only.
- Transmutation Mastery – Applies to Transmuted Items only.
How to choose an Alchemy Specialization
In order to learn an Alchemy Specialization, there are a few conditions players have to meet. Simply put, all you need to do it complete the respective Quest and you’ll be rewarded with the Specialization. But, in order to gain access to these Quests, you have to be at least level 68+ and have an Alchemy Skill of at least 350. Once these conditions are met, you’ll be able to accept the required quest for your desired Specialization.
Alchemy Elixir Mastery Guide
So you want to become an Elixir Master. To do that, You’ll have to talk to Lorokeem in Shattrath City and accept his Quest Master of Elixirs. Lorokeem will ask you to bring him the following items:
- 10x Essence of Infinity
- 5x Elixir of Major Defense
- 5x Elixir of Major Agility
- 5x Elixir of Mastery
While the Elixirs are easy to create or buy, the Essence of Infinity is not as simple. These Essences drop from the Rift Lords and Rift Keepers inside the Black Morass Dungeon in the Caverns of Time. It might even take you a couple of runs to get all 10 of these.
Alchemy Potion Mastery Guide
Of course, there is an equivalent for Potions. To get the Quest Master of Potions, you’ll have to talk to Lauranna Thar’well at the Cenarion Refuge in Zangarmarsh. She’ll ask you to bring her some items similar to Lorokeem:
- 1x Botanist’s Field Guide
- 5x Major Dreamless Sleep Potion
- 5x Super Healing Potion
- 5x Super Mana Potion
While you’ll still have to run a Dungeon to become a Potion Master, it’s just a single item you need, so it’s guaranteed to be a single run only. You can loot the Botanists Field Guide from High Botanist Freywinn, the second boss in the Botanica.
Alchemy Transmutation Mastery Guide
Transmutation Mastery is the simplest Alchemy Specialization of all three. Simply venture to Stormspire in Netherstorm and talk to Zarevhi there. He’ll ask you to bring him 4x Primal Might, that’s it. You can buy it or transmute it yourself. Keep in mind that this is the cost of the Quest, the Primal Might will be gone afterwards.
