This guide covers the fastest way to Exalted with the Cenarion Expedition, the druid faction based at Cenarion Refuge in Zangarmarsh. The short version for Cenarion Expedition rep: turn in Unidentified Plant Parts and run normal Slave Pens or Underbog until Honored, do the Outland quests after that, then finish with heroic Coilfang dungeons, normal Steamvault and Coilfang Armaments. A character that quested through Zangarmarsh while leveling needs roughly 12 dungeon runs from level 70 to Exalted, fewer with the turn-in items you collect on the way.
The numbers apply to the Burning Crusade Classic Anniversary realms, which are in Phase 3 (Black Temple and Mount Hyjal) since August 27, 2026. Rep values are the same as on the original TBC Classic realms from 2021. What differs on Anniversary is the heroic key: the Reservoir Key needs Revered, and alts can skip most of the grind with the Communal Reservoir Pouch, covered below.

How to Get Cenarion Expedition Rep: Every Source
Cenarion Expedition rep comes from six sources: the three Coilfang Reservoir dungeons (Slave Pens, Underbog, Steamvault), about 16,000 rep of one-time quests across Outland, three turn-in items, dungeon dailies and naga kills in Zangarmarsh. Several of them stop working at Friendly or Honored, which decides the order you should use them in.

Dungeon rep comes from every kill. On normal, trash gives 5 (Slave Pens), 7 (Underbog) or 12 (Steamvault) rep and bosses 50 to 120. On heroic, every elite gives 15 and every boss 250, which is why all three heroics land in the same 2,500 to 2,750 range and heroic Slave Pens, with the most trash, comes out on top.
Note on the normal caps: Warcraft Wiki and Icy Veins say normal Slave Pens and Underbog stop giving rep at Honored, except Hungarfen and the bog giants in Underbog. Warcraft Tavern says normal Slave Pens already stops at Friendly. We follow the majority, but if your rep bar stops moving in Slave Pens while you are Friendly, that is why.
Fastest Way to Exalted with the Cenarion Expedition
The fastest Cenarion Expedition route burns the capped sources first and saves everything that works to Exalted for later. Plant parts and normal Slave Pens or Underbog are useless once you hit Honored, while quests, Uncatalogued Species, Coilfang Armaments and Steamvault keep their value at every standing.
- Neutral to Honored (9,000 rep): Turn in Unidentified Plant Parts to Lauranna Thar’well at Cenarion Refuge, and run normal Slave Pens and Underbog while you level through 62 to 66. Kill the naga in Zangarmarsh for quest objectives anyway; they add 5 rep each until Friendly. Keep every Uncatalogued Species you get from the plant packages in your bags.
- Honored to Revered (12,000 rep): Turn in all your Uncatalogued Species, then do the Cenarion Expedition quests you still have open in Terokkar Forest, Blade’s Edge Mountains and Netherstorm, plus the Coilfang dungeon quests. If you still come up short, run normal Steamvault.
- Revered to Exalted (21,000 rep): Buy the Reservoir Key and run all three Coilfang heroics once a day. Fill the rest with normal Steamvault if you want to go faster than the daily heroic lockout allows, and turn in every Coilfang Armament you loot.
- Every day along the way: Check the two dungeon daily quest givers in Lower City. When the daily targets a Coilfang dungeon, it adds 250 (normal) or 350 (heroic) Cenarion Expedition rep to a run you were doing anyway.
Human characters get 10% more reputation from the Diplomacy racial, which saves roughly one heroic run on the way to Exalted.
In practice almost nobody arrives at 70 at Neutral. Leveling through Hellfire Peninsula and Zangarmarsh gives about 7,700 Cenarion Expedition rep from quests alone, so most fresh 70s sit near the end of Friendly or early in Honored. Doing the Zangarmarsh quests while leveling costs you some plant part turn-ins, but nobody should skip a whole zone of leveling quests for that.
How Many Runs Does Cenarion Expedition Exalted Take?
Cenarion Expedition Exalted takes about 12 dungeon runs by our count for a typical fresh level 70 who quested through Hellfire Peninsula and Zangarmarsh: 2 normal Slave Pens or Underbog runs to reach Honored, the remaining Outland quests plus 2 normal Steamvault runs to reach Revered, then 8 heroic clears. Coilfang Armaments and Uncatalogued Species you pick up along the way cut that further.

Heroics are limited to one clear per dungeon per day, so the 8 heroic clears take at least three days. If you want it faster, normal Steamvault has no lockout: at about 1,700 rep per clear, it takes 12 to 13 runs to cover Revered to Exalted on its own. By our estimate, a normal Steamvault clear takes a level 70 group 35 to 45 minutes and a heroic Coilfang clear 40 to 60 minutes, which puts the whole grind from 70 at roughly 8 to 10 hours of dungeon time plus questing. These are our estimates, not official numbers.
Unidentified Plant Parts and Uncatalogued Species
Unidentified Plant Parts give 250 Cenarion Expedition rep per 10 parts, but only until you reach Honored. Lauranna Thar’well at Cenarion Refuge takes them, first through the quest Plants of Zangarmarsh and then through the repeatable Identify Plant Parts. Going from Neutral to Honored on plant parts alone takes 360 parts (36 turn-ins); the last turn-in still works at 5999/6000 Friendly.
Plant parts drop from many mobs in Zangarmarsh, and herbalists pick them from Zangarmarsh herbs and the corpses of bog lords. They are tradeable, so the auction house is the gold shortcut to Honored. Prices vary a lot between realms; compare 360 parts against the two or three normal dungeon runs you would otherwise need.
Every turn-in gives a Package of Identified Plants, which can contain an Uncatalogued Species. Each one is worth 500 rep through its own repeatable quest and works all the way to Exalted, so hold them until you are Honored. They are soulbound random drops: Warcraft Wiki reports that a lucky player gets 7 or 8 from 36 turn-ins, which is up to 4,000 rep, and many get fewer.
Coilfang Armaments: How Many to Exalted
Coilfang Armaments give 75 Cenarion Expedition rep each and are the only turn-in item that works from Honored to Exalted. To open up the turn-in, loot Orders from Lady Vashj from trash in the Steamvault, turn it in to Ysiel Windsinger at Cenarion Refuge (500 rep), and finish the follow-up Preparing for War (250 rep). After that, Ysiel takes armaments one at a time through the repeatable Coilfang Armaments quest.

Armaments drop from mobs in all three Coilfang dungeons, most often in the Steamvault, and they are tradeable. For most players they are a bonus from runs they do anyway, not a plan on their own: 280 armaments from the auction house is a lot of gold for rep that eight heroics give you together with Badges of Justice and gear.
Cenarion Expedition Quests: About 16,300 Rep
Cenarion Expedition quests give about 16,300 rep in total, and all of it works through Exalted. That alone covers more than the whole way from Neutral to Honored, or most of Honored to Revered if you save them.

Blade’s Edge Mountains is the zone to plan around. Many players hit 70 in Nagrand or early in Blade’s Edge and leave most of its quests open, and that 4,200 rep works after Honored, when the capped sources no longer count. If your Blade’s Edge quest log is still full at 70, you may need only one or two normal Steamvault runs to reach Revered.
Reservoir Key: Heroic Coilfang on TBC Anniversary
The Reservoir Key opens heroic Slave Pens, Underbog and Steamvault, and on TBC Anniversary realms it requires Revered with the Cenarion Expedition as of September 25, 2026. Fedryen Swiftspear sells it for about 10 gold, and every player in a heroic group needs their own key.
Anniversary realms add the Communal Reservoir Pouch. Once one character is Revered, it can buy the pouch for 80 gold. It contains a Battle.net account-bound Communal Reservoir Key that you mail to an alt, who only needs Friendly with the Cenarion Expedition to use it. For an alt, Friendly is 3,000 rep: the Hellfire Peninsula quests plus a few Zangarmarsh quests, or 12 plant part turn-ins. The same pouch system exists for the Hellfire Citadel key, covered in our Honor Hold and Thrallmar rep guide, and the Auchindoun key in our Lower City rep guide.
On the original TBC Classic realms, heroic keys dropped to Honored with patch 2.5.4 in March 2022. Blizzard has not said when or whether the same change comes to Anniversary realms. Plan with Revered until an official announcement says otherwise.
Cenarion Expedition Quartermaster and Rewards
The Cenarion Expedition quartermaster is Fedryen Swiftspear at Cenarion Refuge in eastern Zangarmarsh (around 79, 64), next to his tent past the bridge over the moonwell. The rewards worth grinding for are the Reservoir Key, the Glyph of Ferocity head enchant at Revered, the pre-raid tank and healer pieces, and the Cenarion War Hippogryph at Exalted.

Our verdict on the big ones. The Glyph of Ferocity is the reward most players actually need, and it sits at Revered, on the way to the key anyway. Earthwarden is still a strong weapon for a fresh or alt druid tank in Phase 3, though raid-geared bears usually have a replacement by now. The Cenarion War Hippogryph is purely a looks upgrade: it flies at the same 280% speed as the 200 gold swift flying mounts and needs artisan riding (5,000 gold to train), so buy it because you like it. Nethercleft Leg Armor is the most useful recipe here, since tanks keep buying it.
Sources disagree on a few standings: Icy Veins lists the rare class armor and the Heavy Clefthoof Vest at Revered, while Warcraft Tavern and Warcraft Wiki list them at Honored. The table follows the majority.

What is the best dungeon for Cenarion Expedition rep?
Heroic Slave Pens gives the most Cenarion Expedition rep per clear (about 2,600 to 2,750), but heroics are once per day. Without a lockout, normal Steamvault is best at about 1,600 to 1,800 per clear, and it is the only normal Coilfang dungeon that gives rep up to Exalted.
Why did my Cenarion Expedition rep stop going up?
You hit a cap. Plant part turn-ins and normal Slave Pens and Underbog stop at Honored, and Zangarmarsh naga kills stop at Friendly. Switch to quests, Uncatalogued Species, Coilfang Armaments, normal Steamvault or heroics.
Can you buy Cenarion Expedition rep?
Yes, through the auction house: Unidentified Plant Parts take you from Neutral to Honored (360 parts), and Coilfang Armaments take you all the way to Exalted at 75 rep each. You need to run the Steamvault once to start the armament turn-in chain.
Do you get Cenarion Expedition rep in Serpentshrine Cavern?
No. The Serpentshrine Cavern raid gives no Cenarion Expedition rep from kills, even though it is part of Coilfang Reservoir. Dot Esports reports that SSC trash drops Coilfang Armaments, which we could not confirm elsewhere.
