This Consortium rep guide covers the ethereal traders of Netherstorm and Nagrand in World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade Classic, written for the Anniversary realms, which have been in Phase 3 (Black Temple and Hyjal) since August 27, 2026. The Consortium is unusual among TBC factions: only one dungeon (Mana-Tombs) gives rep, most of the grind comes from quests and item turn-ins, and several quest chains only open at a specific standing.
Quick answer: Quest through Nagrand and Netherstorm, turn in Oshu’gun Crystal Fragments and Ivory Tusks until Friendly, then farm Zaxxis Insignias south of Area 52 (250 rep per 10) until Exalted. Run Heroic Mana-Tombs and the two Lower City dungeon dailies whenever you can, because all three give Consortium rep on top. From Neutral to Exalted you need 42,000 rep in total.
Updated September 25, 2026: rewritten for TBC Anniversary Phase 3. The old version said the Consortium sells the Heroic Mana-Tombs key. It doesn’t: that key (the Auchenai Key) comes from Lower City.
How to Get Consortium Rep: All Sources
Consortium rep comes from one-time quests, repeatable item turn-ins, the Mana-Tombs dungeon and the Lower City dungeon dailies. No open-world mob gives Consortium rep when killed. The table shows every source and the standing where it stops working.

The dungeon dailies are easy to overlook: both quest givers stand outside the inn in Lower City, and every daily gives Consortium rep no matter which dungeon it names. The normal daily also rewards an Ethereum Prison Key.
Fastest Way to Farm Consortium Rep: Neutral to Exalted
The fastest way to farm Consortium rep is to do every one-time quest first, because together they cover about a third of the 42,000 rep you need, then fill the gaps with Zaxxis Insignias. The standings need 3,000 (Neutral), 6,000 (Friendly), 12,000 (Honored) and 21,000 (Revered) rep to clear.
Neutral to Friendly (level 64+)
- Take The Consortium Needs You! from the Consortium Recruiter outside Telaar (Alliance) or Garadar (Horde) before you do any other Consortium quest. It’s only 10 rep, but it disappears once you’ve done another one.
- At Aeris Landing, pick up A Head Full of Ivory and Stealing from Thieves. Complete one of them, repeat it until Friendly, then turn in the other one. Doing it in this order gets you one extra turn-in that you would otherwise lose. Ivory Tusks drop from Wild Elekk, Crystal Fragments from Vir’aani Raiders and the ground around Oshu’gun. Both are tradeable, so you can buy them on the Auction House.
- Do the other Aeris Landing quests (Matters of Security, Gava’xi) and the three Mana-Tombs quests from Eckert (Allerian Stronghold) or Grek (Stonebreaker Hold). The Mana-Tombs quests alone give 1,350 rep.
Friendly to Honored (level 67+)
Friendly to Honored is the Netherstorm questing stage. At level 67, do every Consortium quest at Area 52, Midrealm Post and the Stormspire, and at 68 add Tuluman’s Landing and the Protectorate Watch Post. At Area 52, Nether-Stalker Khay’ji’s chain unlocks A Heap of Ethereals, the Zaxxis Insignia turn-in that carries you to Exalted. At Friendly, Gezhe in Aeris Landing also offers Obsidian Warbeads. A few Netherstorm quests need a group: Sabotage the Warp-Gate! (3 players), Nexus-King Salhadaar (5 players) and Dimensius the All-Devouring.
Honored to Revered (level 70)
- At Honored, pick up Seek Out Ameer at the Stormspire. Completing A Mission of Mercy for Commander Ameer makes Ethereum Prison Keys drop from ethereals in Netherstorm, Blade’s Edge, Mana-Tombs and the Arcatraz. The Ethereum Jailors around Manaforge Ultris always drop one.
- Use keys on the Ethereum Prisons at the Ethereum Staging Grounds. A hostile prisoner drops an I.D. Tag (250 Consortium rep). A friendly prisoner gives 500 rep with a random Outland faction instead.
- Farm Zaxxis Raiders and Zaxxis Stalkers at the Heap, south of Area 52. They drop Zaxxis Insignias at roughly 50 to 55% and Ethereum Prison Keys as well, so one farm feeds two turn-ins.
- Run Heroic Mana-Tombs once a day if you have the Auchenai Key.
Revered to Exalted
Revered to Exalted is 21,000 rep, half of the whole grind. At Revered, Commander Ameer offers A Thousand Worlds, a chain of 500-rep quests at Bash’ir’s Landing in Blade’s Edge Mountains. Its repeatables need five Ethereum Prison Keys and an elite group each, which Warcraft Tavern rates as too slow, and we agree. Zaxxis Insignias plus daily Heroic Mana-Tombs and the two dungeon dailies is the faster mix.
How Long Does Consortium Exalted Take?
Getting Consortium Exalted takes roughly 10 to 15 hours of play after the one-time quests, by our estimate. The quests cover about 15,000 of the 42,000 rep, which leaves around 27,000 from repeatables and dungeons.
- Zaxxis Insignias only: at a 50 to 55% drop rate you need about 20 kills per turn-in. A level 70 killing three to four Zaxxis per minute gets 250 rep every 5 to 7 minutes, so 2,000 to 3,000 rep per hour. That’s 9 to 13 hours for 27,000 rep.
- Daily routine only: Heroic Mana-Tombs (about 2,100) plus the heroic daily (350) plus the normal daily (250) is about 2,700 rep per day. That’s 10 days for 27,000 rep, with no dedicated farming at all.
- Mixed: most players do the daily routine and farm insignias for an hour whenever they log in, which gets you to Exalted in about a week.
These are our calculations from published drop rates and rep values, not measured times. AoE classes on a quiet realm will beat them.
Which Dungeons Give Consortium Rep?
Mana-Tombs is the only dungeon that gives Consortium rep from kills. According to Icy Veins, a normal run is worth about 850 rep and stops at 5999/6000 Friendly, one point short of Honored. A heroic run is worth about 2,100 rep (2,350 if you summon the bonus boss Yor) and counts all the way to Exalted. Warcraft Wiki gives higher estimates of about 1,200 normal and 2,400 heroic, so treat both as rough numbers.
Heroic Mana-Tombs needs the Auchenai Key, which the Consortium doesn’t sell. It comes from Nakodu in Lower City and requires Revered with Lower City on the Anniversary realms right now. Our Lower City reputation guide covers how to get there. In the original TBC (patch 2.3) and in the 2021 TBC Classic run (the Zul’Aman phase), heroic keys dropped to Honored. Warcraft Tavern lists the same change for the Anniversary Zul’Aman phase, which is expected in autumn 2026, but Blizzard hasn’t announced a date yet.
Every other TBC dungeon gives Consortium rep only through the dungeon dailies.
Where Is the Consortium Quartermaster?
The Consortium has two quartermasters, and both sell exactly the same items:
- Karaaz at the Stormspire in northern Netherstorm (44, 34)
- Paulsta’ats at Aeris Landing in Nagrand (30, 56)
A third Consortium vendor, Ythyar, stands inside Karazhan in the room before the Chess Event. He sells Design: Powerful Earthstorm Diamond (Honored), Design: Bracing Earthstorm Diamond (Revered) and Formula: Enchant Ring – Striking (Revered).

Consortium rep rewards are mostly profession recipes, with a handful of pre-raid epics at Exalted. The list below is the TBC Classic vendor list as catalogued by Icy Veins. Prices are rounded and before any reputation discount.

At Exalted you can also pick up The Eye of Haramad from the Image of Commander Ameer at Bash’ir’s Landing. It permanently opens Nexus-Prince Shaffar’s stasis chamber in Heroic Mana-Tombs, so your group can fight Yor without spending a key.
Consortium Membership Benefits: The Monthly Gem Bag
Consortium Membership Benefits is a monthly quest from Gezhe at Aeris Landing in Nagrand. From Friendly on, you can collect one bag of gems per calendar month, and the bag gets better with each standing:

The rare gems in the pool are Living Ruby, Star of Elune, Dawnstone, Nightseye, Noble Topaz and Talasite, and no bag contains epic gems. Warcraft Wiki lists drop rates only for the first two bags, so how much better the Revered and Exalted bags are isn’t well documented. Collect it on every level 70, but don’t grind the faction for it.
Is Consortium Rep Worth It in TBC?
Consortium rep is worth it mainly for Jewelcrafters, and for everyone else only up to Honored. The one reward that stays relevant through Phase 3 and beyond is Design: Relentless Earthstorm Diamond (+12 Agility and 3% increased critical damage), the standard meta gem for most physical damage dealers until the end of the expansion. A Jewelcrafter who owns the recipe can sell the cut for as long as the realm is alive.
The Exalted epics are pre-raid items that help a fresh 70 or an alt, but anyone raiding Black Temple and Hyjal has replaced them. Outside professions, hunters gain the most (ammo pouch at Honored, gun at Revered). Everyone else should do the quests while leveling and let the dungeon dailies do the rest.

What dungeon gives Consortium rep?
Only Mana-Tombs in Auchindoun gives Consortium rep from kills. Normal mode stops at the end of Friendly, Heroic mode counts all the way to Exalted. The Lower City dungeon dailies give Consortium rep for any dungeon they send you to.
Does the Consortium sell a heroic key?
No. Heroic Mana-Tombs uses the Auchenai Key from Lower City, so you can enter it with zero Consortium rep.
What is the quest Assisting the Consortium?
Assisting the Consortium is a 10-rep pickup quest from the Aldor or the Scryers in Shattrath that sends you to Nether-Stalker Khay’ji at Area 52. Whichever side you picked (see our Aldor or Scryer guide), it opens the chain that leads to the Zaxxis Insignia turn-in.
Can you buy Consortium rep?
Only until Friendly. Pair of Ivory Tusks and Oshu’gun Crystal Fragments are tradeable, but both turn-ins stop at Friendly. The later turn-in items, Obsidian Warbeads and Zaxxis Insignias, are Bind on Pickup.
